Thalassemia is a type of anemia, in which there is abnormal or reduced Hemoglobin production, mainly the "globin" part of the hemoglobin which contains 2 chains namely 'alpha' and 'beta'. There is a defect in these chains, Which leads to incomplete hemoglobin, and incomplete hemoglobin means abnormal RBC's, and Abnormal RBC's are destroyed by the spleen. Which results in Anemia (Microcytic hypochromic type).
