Join me on a walk from Scratby to Hemsby (Norfolk, UK) after the latest Beast from the East storms. Sunday 12th March was a fairly calm day after the storms but the following day would bring even more strong winds. I strongly believe it is important to share this with others as so many coastlines are being battered and people are losing their homes due to lack of sea defences. Please take time to watch this until the end and offer any support that you can to Hemsby's plight. We have such beautiful landscape but we must protect it.
To support Hemsby Lifeboat, you can go to their Go Fund Me page here:

Please do drop me a comment if you liked this video...I am by no means an expert in what is happening but I hope it helps shine a light on this continuing problem for communities across our coastlines.
Please do consider subscribing to my channel if you would like to see more Norfolk videos and lots of Art videos .
Take care and see you in the next one.

All that money they gave to france would have been better spent on sea defences here

Great video Gail very well documented. Such a beautiful coast line. It's hard to believe nothing has been done from 10 years ago. When do much government money has been wasted on useless projects.

Thanks so much. People need to be told and shown what is happening to these beloved areas. I just hope the extra exposure in the media will help get this closer to a resolution this time around.

Oh my God, we had a fortnight at Hemsby back in the 70s, it was so quiet and definitely no money wasting windmills spoiling the view! The beach was pristine as well, can't believe what's happening to our country these days, breaks my heart!

Hemsby has changed a lot over the years but it is still a great place to go and I hope people continue to visit.

Britain is worse than a 3 rd world country now - nothing is being done properly now , least alone coastal erosion measures

I live in Hemsby and took a beach walk about a month ago, at the bottom of the dunes there was a tree that had obviously been dragged down from the recently demolished beach chalets and there was still a bird feeder hanging from one of the branches which really brought the reality of coastal erosion home..Hemsby needs to be saved 🙏

I have seen the trees that came down...which I also struggled with because I remember commenting how lovely they were when we walked by them on the Marrams years back. I hadn't noticed the bird feeder...but yes it really hits a nerve and shows the harsh reality. I do hope they can get some proper defences in place... temporary ones are exactly that... just temporary and not good enough long term.

I know, it's so sad and I can't imagine how those that have lived there so long and made it their home must feel. That is why we need to keep supporting Hemsby...I hope to go and do another video soon to show what work has started on the beach and I do hope people will continue to support Hemsby's community and businesses by still holidaying there.

We walked that beach from Scratby to Hemsby the following Sunday. So sad to see how much beach has been lost,

Yes, very sad. Let's hope enough funds can be raised for a longer lasting solution. Hoping to do another video in the next week or so to show recent developments. At least there is access to the beach again for now.

It's such a shame...so much money is wasted on more pointless projects in this country. As I mentioned in the video, a local charity own the Marrams and Hemsby Beach so not National Trust but owning it surely means a responsibility to look after it.

A lot of people don't know that , most of our coastline is privately owned , it is only through their good will people can access the beaches etc

It's terribly sad that so many properties are being washed out to sea, and it's even more sad knowing that many others will follow. The sea's a mighty beast and difficult to tame. But, after these storms the beaches should be cleaned up, especially of all the plastic and metal rubbish, before it's swept out to sea. 😥 (Good document Gail!)
