I can't find the info online but years ago I added an extra, higher ridgeline using super lightweight paracord to keep the fly higher off the hammock. Just use a sliding knot that lets you adjust the fly. Tie this new line beyond the ends of your hammock to the line or webbing you're using. It creates more space away from your face while you're in the hammock but also creates more hangout space when you're not.

Well presented. I've owned and well used the Expedition all over Canadian crownland in northern Ontario. It has been my saviour when camping over rock and roots in the Canadian Shield.

i put my tarp and hammock in the snakeskins. saves lot of time. also try going around ''o'' rings twice, then come between the two wraps and between ''o'' rings to cinch it. make more secure and neater knot. good to see what others are doing, get most of my techniques that way. keep on keepin' on.

Why do you need a carabiner? Couldn't you just put the rope through the loops in the tree hugger?

Thank you...just bought the hammock and had a few questions. This vid answered every question....well done sir. (and thanks again :) )

Thank you for that commonsense solution with the carabiner and rings to get the hammock tension correct without untying HH's recommend figure 8 knot a half-dozen times. I've had a difficult time lying diagonally across the hammock as you've shown: it's just not long enough. Plus, laying the way you've shown, the zippers are at your feet which I think would be problematic when you're bundled up in your overquilt, etc. I found success with my head at the "foot" end (lengthwise). I've been frustrated with the hammock also because the bug netting just won't fold out-of-the-way. It's constantly falling in my face and in the way until I'm all zippered up for the night

richard, try tying smal piece of cord to ridgeline, roll up net and tie with cord. works for me. good luck.

Richard Bryan give this KZbin video a crack. It has some good hammock tips including help with your fly net problem. I wrote the title word for word, so if you write the following exactly, you should get the video that should help you out. All the best... good video, you pointed out a few things that hennessy don't point out in their own videos , like how the rain fly should be attacked or that the hammock side lines can be attached to the rain fly, found a few good tips here even i didn't know.

Hi there, thanks for the useful video, very helpful. I just bought the same set up and waiting for it. I have a few questions which I hope you can shed some light: 1. Which carabiner are you using and which strength? I read that carabiner for hammock is different from climbing ones. 2. Hennessy's way to set up is to put the ridgeline in the 2 end loops of the 'tree hugger' strap. If we use the carabiner and to clip is only one end loop, will it not affect the weight tension on the strap, which may result in sudden tear or in the long run? Just thinking that the weight may be distributed on 2 straps vs 1 strap. Just a thought. 3. I noticed that you clipped your Hex fly same way the original fly, but I read on Hennessy's website that this fly should be tied directly to trees. Have you experienced any issue by not tying directly to trees? I think your set up is practical, just worry as well because the Hex fly is bigger, does it not put more weight on the ridgeline, carabiner and webbing straps. Thanks for your input/views.

How does hennesey compare to DD?
@johnho20065 жыл бұрын
@@fishmanfairclough7530 got to be honest , i prefer the DD frontline, with the side zip,easy and far more comfortable when cooking lounging about, Yes if i was in a mosquito environment. like a jungle where your guaranteed a nights sleep.i may choose the HH over the DD i have only hammock camp in Belize ,central america and Kenya, Africa.both are good , but my money for ease of use id the DD i struggle with the velcro opening on the HH

Are the guylines for the tarp included when buying the hammock?
@joshmanicus6 жыл бұрын
Nice video. I would like to offer a suggestion. Perhaps it would be wise if you raised your straps up higher and let the hammock hang at more of an angle. Then move your prussiks to the point where the tarp is a little higher and not as likely to touch the top of your hammock. This little tip will save you a lot of grief in the rain!

I have had all of my traps stored in their respective snake skins and nothing stretched but remained the same. Some of the tarps have been in the skins for a year or longer. My hammocks and hardware are stored in stuff sacks.

I have stored my expedition with tarp in snakeskins for years. Havent had any issues with that. Of course i make sure that it is completely dry before packing tho, maybe thats the trick.
@MrCwbixler5 жыл бұрын
Very helpful video. I just picked up my first hammock (ended up with the deluxe explorer). If you're in the rain and need to pack up, do to separate the fly and the hammock into different snake skins or does the rolling of the fly/hammock together before sliding the skins over keep the hammock dry? I like the setup of everything in 1 skin, but want to know if I should have an extra set of skins in case I need to keep a wet rainfly separate
@PaddlesHammocks5 жыл бұрын
curtis bixler if the flys wet I normally pack it separate and dry out as soon as possible, to be fair I normally air out all my kit when I get home from a camp

It's easier to center, quicker to rig, pulls tighter, and snugs up without retying if it sags a bit in the middle of the night. They don't take up any room and they aren't that heavy. You don't have $20? Forget the hammock and go to the homeless shelter.

Unless I am mistaken the Explorer comes with an asymmetrical fly but if you order it from Hennesey direct you can (for additional cost) swap it out for the hex fly.
