Henriette von Schirach was born as Henriette Hoffmann on the 2 February 1913 in Munich, then part of the German Empire. Her father Heinrich Hoffmann was a photographer, and her mother Therese Baumann was a former singer and actress who died a sudden and unexpected death in 1928 when Henriette was only 15 years old.
In 1919, Henriette’s father Heinrich met Adolf Hitler and in April of the following year he joined the Nazi Party.
In 1921, Hitler took control of the party and 2 years later he named Hoffmann his official photographer. No other photographer but Hoffmann was allowed to take pictures of him. Hoffmann tried to portray Hitler as the epitome of the German people, which was difficult because the future Führer lacked the racial profile of the Nordic race. As a result, Hoffmann tried to portray Hitler in the best light by focusing more on his eyes, which many found dreamy and hypnotic.

Their son Ferdinand von Schirach is trying to give the stolen art back to their rightful owners. In a interview he said it is the least i can do to undo the wrong that my parents did. Thats my last info i could find on the children.Sorry i have to correct myself. Ferdinand was the grandson from Henriette.

From what I could find, he paid himself for specialists to examine the art collection and figure out what was stolen and their history and encouraged other art collectors to do that. He also spoke in the article a lot about his anger about what his grandmother did and how horrific it was she stole the art back after the war. So safe to say that he does not agree with what happened and is trying to make things right.

Henriette von Schirach is a perfect example of complicity. Despite showing empathy towards deported Jews, she still acknowledged the atrocities of The Third Reich choosing to align herself with the theft of stolen art work. This makes her no more better that non-Jews who showed sorrow and contrition towards enslaved and murdered Jews.

It wasn’t that the majority of Germans were evil, it’s that they believed their government who was. They thought they were working towards a higher cause, doing the right thing And if you think punishment was the answer remember that conditions in Germany that paved the way for Hitler and his party to take absolute control were caused through the punishment wrought on Germany after world war 1 The Americans notably realised this at the time and after the Second World War they took charge and didn’t allow those conditions to develop a second time What can we learn from this? Never allow governments as much control as they did, they shouldn’t control the media, education system, the movements of its people, almost everything so directly. Freedom is the best defence against totalitarianism

Henriette von Schirach was a thief and a war criminal, just like her father. What a terrible person. And I do not believe that she would have complained to Hitler about Jewish razzias in the Netherlands. No one in Hitler´s circle would be that stupid! And after the war, she is complaining about how she has been treated in jail after her husband is in jail as a war criminal for 20 years! She and her father were war criminals, but at that time people believed that the wives of war criminals could have been innocent and not involved in the crimes of their husbands, so she was released after just one year. And when you see how terrible she behaved after the war and how greedy she was, then you understand that she was not innocent at all.

After studying Nazism and WW2 in detail for many years, I’ve come to the conclusion that - I really don’t think the Nazis liked the Jews very much, I could be wrong, it will take many decades of research and analysis before we can actually confirm this hypothesis tho. Stay tuned…

The way the United States mishandled punishing Nazis is criminal. The Brits hung them, the Americans imprisoned them. As a Black American, I am bothered by the fact that my kind bothered to treat her decently. They should not have...I blame racism in the U.S. for that because it subdued my ancestors, hence their weak response to her and the likes of her.

Friend,as a Croat we have been portrait as even worst than Nazis. My country fought along side with Germans. And because winner write the history some things are always put aside in order to show defeated as bad guy.. Well one of them is Jimmy Lyggett He was boxing coach of the national team of Croatia from 1930 - 1945 . He was a black guy who was been forbidden to fight white boxers in the US. Not only that, you know what rights black people had in USA in those times.. No1 did nothing to the guy,who even married Croatian girl.and lived until the end of the w4r...So bad we were..

@@danielbelteshazzar-mg7rb Yes. I am aware that a lot of my people left the U.S. in the earlier part of the 20th century to go to Europe where they were often celebrated and welcomed for their skills and talents. That still does not excuse that fact that there were Black Americans who experienced racism in Europe back then, Nazi Germany being a case in point. This channel has shared the story of Gert Schramm, a boy who had a white German mother and a Black American father. Gert was sent to a concentration camp. He survived thankfully. But, when his father who had gone back to the U.S., went back to Germany at the start of WWII to find his son and his son's mother, he was captured by Nazis and sent to Auschwitz. He was never heard from again. I myself have been to Europe and I admit that for the most part I was treated well. Still racism exists in the Europe and I know where to go and more importantly where not to go, my friend.

The topic of plundering of works of art by the Germans during World War II is a very important one. But unfortunately, repeating like a mantra that Jewish collectors were robbed, not to mention the entire Polish nation, France and so on, is, to put it mildly, a major distortion of true history. The question is whether we deliberately do not mention other nations or whether the channel does not have such knowledge. A film presented in this way is unacceptable to a viewer who wants to find out the truth.

Where could they go? Of course the adults knew about Jews in the Reich and of course they wanted to get to safety but how? No country was taking more than a very limited number of Jews, visas were drastically curtailed, so it was next to impossible to get away. They tried the US, the UK, Argentina, China, any possibility going. A lot of them were also very poor and far from any consulate. If you could get a country to take you and could pay your passage, how were you going to live once you got there? Once the war began, how would you travel? A visa to South Africa would become useless as there was no ship to get you there. What if you could only speak Hungarian? Rumanian? Polish or Yiddish? It was a tough situation to be in. They tried. Queued up outside every embassy or consulate, trying to fulfil all the medical, financial and sponsor requirements but mostly to no avail. People resorted to sending their children alone, if they could get them on a freedom train. Imagine how hard that must have been. They were pretty much encircled, cut off from escape routes, not really wanted anywhere except maybe the Jewish settlements in Palestine and Britain was not letting them in, so as not to cause an uproar among the Arabs. They were sitting ducks, largely friendless, easily rounded up, trapped and murdered. Very bad luck indeed to have been Jewish in Eastern Europe at that time. They were , I think ,mostly not there by choice after 1939/41. Once the Germans invaded or their own govt became right wing axis members, that was it. Even their own compatriots turned them in for money or joined in the murdering. How would you get through your own country undetected to get away? I assume a few very smart people did do that but would you have managed it? I honestly don't think I would have.
