Henry Fuseli: The Painter of Nightmares

When I was young, Fuseli was a great favourite of mine. Must have been all the eroticism, I suspect! His work is terribly repetitious, but when he steps outside his self imposed conventions, he is emotionally quite stunning. This compilation did not show his self portrait drawing. He saw himself as a faintly disturbing character, in which I think he was quite right.
