Henry Mancini graduated from Aliquippa ,Pa HS and conducted our band in 1961 0r 1962. Much later I met his pretty daughter, Monica,at Grady Gammage auditorium in Tempe ,A. She signed my Henry Mancini album and signed it this way,My dad told me," there was a drummer who could not keep the beat, today I met him."

I can't be the only one who feels that Mercer had as good a voice as any American pop singers of that era and better than many of them? Such a multi-talented man; incredible songwriter.

This is the very first time to hear this version of Moon River sung by the late singer/song writer Johnny Mercer & late orchestra leader Henry Mancini. The song was very popular in 1961. I always love the song Moon River by Henry Mancini. It was the opening theme song for the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s which came out late 1961/early 1962 time frame. Every time I used to listen to Henry Mancini’s version I always think about the Susquehanna River in Northeastern Pennsylvania from Towanda,PA to Nanticoke,PA.
