The writing doesn't control the group - hard to even tell when there is composition. Everyone in the band feels it together. Points for both bandleading and writing.

@@georgemcfetridge8310 There also is question: For me, I notice what I perceive as melody composed, do I also notice improvisation? Yes, MY perceptions. A wonderful ride is what always counts for me, when I let go of my more or less preconceived ideas, and am surprised, taken away, you know?

Yes it is hard to tell, Threadgill expects a live performance not to be a repeat of the material composed for the studio, some of the pieces are from Rag Bush and All album, it is a seamless process writing and the improvisers playing

Yes, the listener is not supposed to even designate. I do because I'm a player and writer. The solidity of this music lies in the sense of rightness it conveys. I think it also talks about life, so is good art. @@billknotek8717
