The part of the performance that I like most is that you perform it like a real person speaking real thoughts, not like a prepared speech.

Probably the most difficult opening line in Shakespeare to say (next to "Now is the winter of our discontent"). Nailed it. Every speaker of it has to have his own take on it. I actually have a personal theory with Shakespeare. I used to work in a big hotel and would observe the staff, their funny phrases etc. Go home of a night and have a few beers and write them into a satirical magazine I produced monthly for the staff. Think one time Shakespeare speaks of himself up in a turret writing in a late hour. They only drank weak or strong beer in them days. I like to think the Bard was on the latter. Like me!

Expecting to be disappointed, but absolutely not so. Real presence and conviction - and the scene most certainly set.

Cheers! The positive feedback always means a lot! Especially on the vids that get fewer views! Thanks Bruce.

My favorite opening to any of Shakespeare's plays... or any play for that matter. Very well done!

The character of the chorus takes the audience from one scene, one battle to another in Henry V. I'd recommend watching the Kenneth Branagh film version if you enjoyed :) Thanks for watching.

Try not to bring in lot of forceful effects but play the part of the chorus. Who is simply apologising for the short comings and then asking the audience to fill in the gap through their imagination. Try not to show your acting skills to impress the audience. But in stead , play the chorus. Hope this helps.

Pretty good. At least he didn't leave any lines out, which I have seen too often. I cringed at the word 'monaaarchs' but he can't help being American 😂 (The smiley is there so that the commenters recognise a little humour)

Agreed. Jacobi's version arouses excitement, anticipation for action and combat, on a scale that forces the audience to enhance the humble scenery of the Globe (or any theater) in their mind's eye. It should not be issued so casually.

@@j.r.796 I'm not better than Derek Jacobi & Mark Rylance!? ARGHHHHHHH To be fair, this was filmed on my own without a director and I don't have years of Shakespeare training/performance like they do, so I'll take even you bringing them up as a compliment.
