Can you please post something about the people who would have established the shul, davened or learned there? Any recognizable Rabbis or leaders lived or passed through the town?

Regarding the one floor tile of the Carpentras Synagogue. Prof. H. Abramson told us that "according to local tradition, this one tile was intentionally placed not in keeping with the design as a sign that the world in not perfect..." Does anyone have any source to confirm my hypothesis that the intentional misplacement of that one tile in the floor of the synagogue was in keeping with the Jewish tradition of "leaving some small piece of wall plastering incomplete or floor tiling out of place "in remembrance of the destroyed Temple of Israel (Beit Hamikdash) in Jerusalem".
