What I love most about Charles is his no nonsense attitude, his humor. He's an Old fashioned realistic MAN. A role model, with no fear to tell the truth.

He **literally did a famous ad for Nike** about how he **wasn't** a role model, lol.

I was at the 56 point game. He ended the game - and our season - by halftime. It was my final game as a season ticket holder.

Sir Charles was my idol ever since I first saw him with Philly. My height. My weight. We could both jump. Of course, he was faster, a better shot, and took crap from NO ONE. My favorite player. To be fair, when Charles was drafted, he would have had to displace perennial all star forward Bobby Jones,or, Doctor J. That was simply never gonna happen. That's the real reason why he didn't get playing time at first. But he made up for it over time, becoming perhaps the greatest 'small' #4 player in history. Why? Because he came to play every, single, night. 100% effort, all the time. You simply have to admire a guy who does that. Oh. and he took on Shaq. NOBODY did that. Except Sir Charles. Backs down from no one.

Shaq egging on Chuck, only to be the loudest one laughing in the room, is so great... It's crazy too to see Shaq in one segment throw his rings in Chuck's face, then the next one, wiping away the tears from his laughing lol. It's the beauty of that show, and baffles me that there was even a MINUTE of speculation/decision, that it wouldve been ending! But overall, it shows how enigmatic Barkley is, to take it all in stride, still be himself, be CONSISTENT with his takes and especially criticisms, because he'll say the same stuff on the show and in various interviews and radio guest spots or whatever, always being HIMSELF.... And I'm sure many already know or have seen these little snippets, but the rest of the Dream Team realizing that the crowd that's following them or whatever would suddenly erupt, and they all go "welp, there goes Chuck, he's here," is so awesome to me. That multi-cultural crowd going craziest for Barkley, it's great! I was 14 when I watched the Dream Team, and i watched EVERY SINGLE GAME in full that they played, and even though the stats said it as well, it was obvious that he was the best player on the court during those Olympics. It should really be much more promoted and well known that amongst alllll those insane great legends, CHARLES BARKLEY was the main man... mind blowing

Pippen said in Valuetainment interview that if Charles and MJ played together instead of him (Pippen),Charles and MJ will just win 3 championship together. But I don't think Pippen can carry the Phoenix Suns the way Charles did.
@tonygajate578011 сағат бұрын
thing is he didn't carry the Suns. Kevin Johnson was the driving offensive force along with Barkley when it was crunch time in the playoffs. I've been watching the game since 1974, was a Philly fan and lived in Philly when Barkley got drafted, saw him once in a nightclub off of Cityline ave back in the day. Barkley came out of the gate as a force, he attacked the game and he was a fast fat dude smashing dunks after going full court at full speed, he was play station excitement but the 76ers were an old team and by the time Doc, Malone and B Jones retired and Chuck emerged, the best players he ever got to play with were Hersey Hawkins, Gilliam, Mahorn, Gminski, Bol, Dawkins....that ain't cutting it, close to pathetic, a first round exit playoff team was what he was on. Chuck got no help, zero, can't blame him for no rings in Philly, blame Katz, the owner. Barkley played his heart out as a 76er. As a Sun he had a team for the first time, why didn't he win a ring? The same reason the Knicks, Pacers, Trailblazers and Sonics didn't. The Bulls were a better team with more talent, better coach end of story. Down the stretch it was KJ more often than Chuck taking the lead and Majerle and Chambers were passive. Chuck didn't take over playoff games against Chicago, he didn't seize the opportunity, it was within grasp. Of course a lot of factors go into winning it all and luck is one of them and Chuck didn't have any. Barkley got close, had he hit more shots like the one he did over D Robinson or had his team mates played like a Horry, Ainge, Ellie, Van Exel, Vinnie Johnson and hit the big shots then we would be seeing Suns highlights at the beginning of ESPN, but they didn't and we don't. - could Pippen lead the Suns? I think he would have melded with KJ and all very well but they still would need more than a Pippen. As nice as Pippen was, exc defense, high IQ, he was Robin, he never took over games offensively and he couldn't, prime Barkley was an alpha, Pippen was a co star, a piece, Barkley was THE piece. No one ever tried to build a franchise around Pippen, two cities did for Barkley

You said "wayyy too short to play basketball", what?? Barkley is 6'4-1/2" or 6'5". How tall are you? Ray Allen and Beard are 6'5", Jason Kidd is 6'4", Russ is 6'3", Joe Dumars is 6'3", Steph and Ky are 6'2", Isiah Thomas is 6'1", A.I. is 5'11", Trae is also 5'11 I think. Nate Robinson and I.T. are 5'9". Heck, Spud Webb is 5'7". Yuki, the Japanese baller, is 5'9" (or 5'8"?).
