One of the funny moments when I crashed downhill biking and broke my collarbone was the nurse that had to dig and wash the gravel out of my side. "Sorry, sorry. I know this hurt." As she was cleaning the scrapes. My answer was "Yeah, no problem. Don't feel bad about it. It's not your fault this hurts, it's mine. I'll just grit my teeth." Seemed to make the atmosphere a bit more chill. Not like I didn't account for such things before I decided to hit the jumps, haha. Seriously though. Where ever you are. If there was one thing that I could change about patients it would be cleanliness. No issue with construction workers and the like who suffer a medical emergency but when you respond to emergencies of people who haven't seen the inside of a shower in a month, it becomes disgusting. Blood no longer faces me, vomit is okay but the strange sweetly smell of someone who doesn't shower is just the worst. The absolut bottom was an appartment with cat food and cat shit (probably?) lying everywhere. I didn't manage to get inside without starting to gag - had to rub a bottle of eucalyptus oil under my nose and put on a facemask. The patient took that smell with him to the hospital.

The abdominal pains I had before going through surgery were bad. It was a result of a gall bladder stone blocking the bile duct, and had relief because it would move as a valve, relieving me from the pain. What had me sent to the hospital for treatment and two surgeries was 36 straight hours of pain that i couldn't find relief from. I went to urgent care and was diagnosed with pancreatitis, warranting ambulance transport to the hospital. First surgery was to unblock the duct at a different hospital facility of the same network. Second was to remove the gall bladder, which had another stone inside, with the walls covered with smaller stones taking shape. Full recovery for the genius kettle.
@Umbra_of_Emberspike Жыл бұрын
Giving me vivid flashbacks to when I had the same pain 6 years ago. The first time it happened, the location made the ER staff think it was my gallbladder, not my appendix. For 13 days, I lived with constant pain before my appendix finally ruptured and I had the worst-looking appendix in my surgeon's career. It was even only discovered during an appointment for something else entirely. In other words, I am actually such a glutton for pain that the unrelated appointment was the only thing that saved my life. It took 3 months of numerous treatments to deal with, all because the root of my problem was discovered late. Sharp concentrated abdominal pain is NOT something to be taken lightly.

I had almost the exact same thing happen to me. Kept getting sent home saying it’s just the flu. Went to see family doctor “take him to the emergency room.” Yeah my appendix popped like a ballon. Doesn't take very many fat hairy dudes wearing thongs to desensitize you to it, not to mention that one of the things emergency room deals with is people putting things up their ass and getting it stuck. In fairness part of their employment contract is to actually maintain confidentiality so they're not really supposed to talk about it anyway, unless it creates an actual health concern in which case they'll inform a doctor, and usually even then somebody else will probably come along to insure that your panties are not something they're going to think about when they get home. Also costco underwear can be plenty cute, but I can tell you sitting on the toilet in pain you'll probably feel like you'll never be cute again. But I've been the person scooping a girl off the toilet to take to the hospital before, and she's so cute she could commit genocide and still get into heaven.

I can relate a bit, I've had Acute Pancreatitis a couple of times before and the pain is unbearable. I live in the the US, so after the first ambulance bill, I decided to just get an Uber from then on unless I'm rapidly losing blood or I'm having a heart attack. I did take a quick 5-minute shower, then just lay down in pain before the Uber arrived. My pride will grant me enough Adrenaline to tidy up because I will not be a stinky patient and the potential ambulance bill just had me suck up the 15 minute drive to the nearest hospital. The best part of going to the ER is getting moved around on a wheelchair as they inject powerful painkillers on you. It feels like a "pop" goes off in your brain, then tranquility. I can see why people get addicted to painkillers lol.

We healthcare professionals really don't care what you are wearing and how you look when sorting out with your health. I have had moments looking after people and like i can't think of what they looked like or what they were wearing, its like you are in HELP mode so your brain is figuring out how to HELP over what is going on around you. A clown could be doing back flips and honking we just focus on what is going on to make sure that person is good. There might be flashes of memories but its just the surrounding, we might remember like broken glass, the wound or the face filled with pain or loss of emotion. But overall we just don't remember much details other than their condition. I can only vaguely remember the face of an old man i was looking after, i just remember shit everywhere, all over them shit because they had gastro. But that is about it of what i remember, their name? No, what they were wearing? Kinda only coz it had to do with what was happening. But i doubt those paramedics remember anything she was wearing to be honest. Even if they seen her stark naked i dont think they would remember much let alone get turned on by it unless they are some sort of psycho who enjoys people in pain in their sexual thoughts =/

Yeah, it was occuring to me few times a year when I was younger, suddenly waking up in the middle of the night and crawling to the toilet... doesn't happen as often now. Wish you speedy recovery, Henya.
