While I don't try to make someone feel bad - mistakes happen - this wasn't anything not predictable. This is the exact reason why you don't fully open doors of enclosures that are higher up. For feeding you could just open it a bit and throw the prey in - no need to risk something like this for a video.

That is not to make anyone this has happened to feel bad, but to encourage. I'm so sorry. Same happened to mine a year ago. Her wound was way smaller and I could superglue it after using cornstarch.. she survived for around 4 month, but couldn't mold and she sadly died. So I absolutely feel you. It's hard to lose a T. And the wounds are so horrible sometimes. You did the right thing and helped her as fast as you could.

I was almost in tears watching this video. I truly hope she survives. Not just that, it's not just his fault because the breed itself is (as he mentioned) known to jump and be aggressive with prey and feeding. Even if it was lower down, just the species of tarantula that this is could easily get hurt by jumping out of the enclosure and landing in a certain way or place that they shouldn't have. Mistakes happen.

man... im so sorry. the thing that got me the most emotional was watching you just, pick her up and manhandle her to get the super glue in place? for a tarantula to be that placid, it kicked me in the heart, you could tell that she was just sorta surrendering to whatever happened next. what a spitfire to try kicking hairs at you afterwards though. you reacted so fast with the first handful of corn starch, you did everything you could to give her the best chance at surviving this drop. so many hugs, my dude.

Imagine holding it in your hand, or in your thoughts, something so precious that you are no longer in peaceful control. Your hands may shake; your heart might race. I expect you’ve had that feeling, and worried that you might be more likely to fumble it precisely because the thing is so precious. This just happened to me with a spider: I fumbled it. As I’ve been mourning the loss, I have been surprised at why it hurts so much. I feel I’ve hurt a whole species of spider. I am so sorry for you and i hope she pulls though :)

My A. Seemanni did that. She ruptured her abdomen as well, and I immediately thought of super glue. I dried her abdomen off as much as possible and then applied the glue. She recently moulted for the 1st time and is doing very well, so keep hope. They're very resilient.

So it was just abdomen fluid? No organs lost? So is she just VERY anemic? I don't know about spider anatomy.

@@katrinascarlet5637 yes, it was luckily just fluid, but that fluid is their blood. Their heart and lungs are in the abdomen and thankfully hers didn't get damaged. For a time her abdomen looked "deflated" but over the days she plumped up again. She is doing amazing and is very happy & healthy.

This is a tarantula keeper's worst nightmare... I always make sure I keep my T near to the floor or have still in her terrarium with the lid still on to feed or water her through an opening equipped with the lid. These paranoid precautions are to protect her fragility, a painful reality one has to be aware of when caring for these little critters. I hope your girl will be alright. That situation really sucks... 😟
