One scenario might be that Louise met a person (the killer) at or near her car because she took a different trail than was recommended to her upon her inquiry. The killer apparently had access to her car as her sleeping bag wasn't inside. Very sad story.

God bless Louise for fighting that SOB. I hope she did some damage. SOMEONE went home scratched and bloody that day. Which means they were most likely seen (and possibly questioned) by someone -most likely a family member. From what I understand, DNA can now be traced to family members, so if the killer has a family member who was arrested or did one of those DNA nationality tests, they can find a match and use the Process of Elimination to pinpoint the murderer. I really hope justice will be served. I'm sure the family would also like to know why this person did what they did to this nice lady. Rest in Peace Louise! ❤

@@MrManfly You’d be surprised. Oakey “Al” Kite’s case is so brutally violent and chillingly calculated that it’s truly terrifying; jaded as any avid true crimer may be, this one will be highly disturbing. The killer’s DNA being actively, methodically investigated through genetic genealogy and yet still no suspect revealed. Lazy Masquerade’s “3 Disturbing Mysteries That Will Make You Question Humanity” is one I recommend that covers Al’s case, and obviously 2 others, with brevity.

My theory (admittedly only speculation) is that the killer was driving by and saw her alone in the parking lot. He then forced her at knifepoint up the trail. This was the modus operandi of the Connecticut valley serial killer in the 80s. The Diretissima parking lot is visible from route 16. However, it's not visible from the nearby Joe Dodge lot. In a Quebec podcast on the tragedy they speculate that Louise parked there to avoid parking fees in the main lot. There are relatively few visitors to the Whites the week before Thanksgiving, so that and the Diretissima lot being quiet unfortunately gave the killer more chance to go unnoticed .

With the increase in drugs and gangs coming over the bdr, creating homeless tweaker camps, and criminals being set free based on clr, there are few safe places any more. Women are especially vulnerable, but everyone's at risk. People also have to remember that there's safety in numbers, and criminals seek out desolate areas where there won't be witnesses.

This location in N-H has a lot of tourists but hiking alone in these wooden areas brings nevertheless some risk even if something bad rarely happens. Is there a reason they believe she hiked the Direttisima Trail over the Lost Pond trail? From what I understand this assumption was only due to her body being found at it's junction. If she was hiking from the Pinkham Notch center down to her vehicle which was parked near or at the Glen Ellis Falls trailhead it's still very possible she hiked down the roughly 1 mile trail to her vehicle by night fall. It would already or be starting to get dark at this point so she might have been changing out of her hiking shoes and into her regular shoes to drive. I honestly feel like given that particular trailheads history with break-ins she might have been mugged in the parking lot and ran for her life up the Glen Boulder Trail (this is all speculative). If she was being mugged and ran then when he/they caught up to her on trail and stabbed her this would explain why her car keys were missing but the vehicle wasn't stolen and why her bag went missing as well yet her hiking shoes were still in her vehicle. It's horrible what happened to her, truly horrible. If the killer was also a thief it's likely he'd return to the area to break into vehicles again. I wonder if any criminals breaking into cars were ever later arrested from this location or another parking area near it. I also wouldn't rule out that she didn't hike the lost pond trail yet. The taking of the green sleeping bag is very odd, unless it was in her bag that also went missing.

This story is an example of just one of the reasons why we all have the right to carry a gun (and perhaps also bear spray). Guns are the great equalizer. Whether one is getting attacked by a bear or a violent human, a gun will put the odds of survival in your favor. If you hike, get a gun and learn how to use it properly. It is your right for a reason! Don't become a victim. Protect yourself.

Amen. Channels like this should pin comments such as yours. I'm an old man...another category often seen as a 'soft' target. On trail I have a revolver loaded with 357 magnum easy to get to and often a 22 semi-auto plus 3 or 4 spare magazines in my backpack. I also carry knives. No one is there to save you. YOU are your own first responder.

All of this happened in the same month as the 9/11 attacks, when travel across the US/Canada border was shut down and when everyone in the U.S. was distracted. Certainly those travel restrictions would have been affecting this Canadienne citizen in New Hampshire, 4 days after the attacks. It's no surprise at all that no one came forward with information in the weeks following the discovery of her body, as all of our news feeds were still full of Manhattan and Stonycreek.

Great job Kyle. I wish the authorities would try a Genealogy DNA test if they have not already. I know those tests cost a lot of money though. Still, with the guy presumably still out there I think they should.

100$ x every DNA they have and have not associated with a conviction is probably at most a couple thousand for any police department but then there are all kinds of hours spent investigating after that... it makes sense as much as it's unrealistic somewhere else

@straight this test doesn’t rely on DNA from criminal records. Just on some random relative having done one of those 23 and Me type DNA tests. Then they can contact that person and ask about relatives.

Thats weird tho. If she didn't go for a long hike and left the sleeping bag etc in her car, it seems to me someone who's homeless and a local saw her and attacked her, took her car keys (that weren't found) and went to her car to steal what he could. I would think maybe even lurked around the parking lot to make sure theres only one car left and saw her walking alone onto the trail and followed her. Whoever it was, must be a local.

I lived in NH for 2 years when i was a small child. I lived in a poor neighborhood, and one of our neighbors was murdered and dismembered. It was horrifying for an 8 year old. Thankfully, the murderer was caught. It was in '98, Manchester, Mary Stetsen (or Stetson). Ironically, NH is a very low crime state in general.

I think someone local did it. They happened to be walking that trail at that time with nobody around and saw their opportunity and took it. Probably someone who hikes there often and wouldn’t even doubt if the killer joined in on the searches.
