I love how Grace learnt so much from Jack just by observing. In the beginning of the story Jack almost decided the course of an incident, like not locking the door and slipping the keys into her bag and putting the thought of bringing the suitcase down in her mind. And later Grace does the same thing with the whiskey glass, asking him to hand it over to her by creating distractions and mentioning the red room to let him towards that direction. But the best part is when you can actually see the shift happening. It starts clicking so suddenly that the situation isn't under Jack's control anymore. There are now variables in his well thought out act. A big applause to the writer❤ such a queen ❤

When Jack was going off on Grace about not refusing Ester for a birthday party for Millie, Grace knew very well that if she seemed to excited or nervous about the party offer then Jack would actually end up making an excuse to cancel, but Grace said that she just can't go ahead with the birthday party feeling alright with what Jack told her about the entire plan of excuses he'd prepared to send off millie from the world's eyes to New Zealand, and at that point Jack said something about how if it pains her that much to have the party then he'd definitely have the party.... Idk if this was planned by the author how I perceived it but that's actually genius cuz with Grace feeling uncomfortable with the party, Jack would obviously not cancel it which means Grace could have the chance to plot something greater via the party without Jack suspecting.

I’m only halfway through but Jack saying he wants Millie just made my stomach churn more than it ever has before. I consume a lot of horror. Of all types. But this type of thing is what gets me the most. Because no monster, no demon, no ghosts, can ever be as evil as some men can be. There are a lot of Jacks in the world.

To date, this is my favourite story you have told. You always do these books and cases justice. But this right here, was perfect execution, I could listen to this all over again ☺️.

Stephanie, you are one amazing storyteller, they should hire you to promote these books! Honestly, watching this was so hard for me because I have a younger sister with down syndrome and me, my mother and older sister are the ones taking care of her, so I saw myself in Grace, as to how much I would do to help my sister and never let her see harm, just like she did to Milly, anything to keep my sister safe. I’m so glad I watched this through the anger and tears, I’m DEFIANTLY purchasing this book now!!!

Initially I was like Esther must be jealous but then I’m like Esther is our home girl 👏🏽 I was mad that jack just died that easily I understood grace just wanted to get out but I wanted him to suffer so bad but then I found out he died exactly like the dog and I was screaming 😂👏🏽😂👏🏽😂👏🏽 this is the best book I’ve never read 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾

If you think about it if Jack never claimed that grace was “mentally ill” she wouldn’t have gotten away with it but since he convinced almost everyone that she’s just a mentally unstable perfect fragile wife that just loves her husband no one suspected that she’d kill her husband especially when they always talk about how perfect they’re life is. So if anything he set the field for her she just need to play her cards right and she did with the help of Milly and Esther anyways this book sounds so good I might just buy to read it for myself lol

This was the craziest book I’ve listening you narrate so far!! Was like SHAKING trying to think up a way for her to get out of it omg!! Thank you for the wonderful narration, you do such a good job at keeping us at the edge of our seat 🖤🥀

“Red… Millie’s room was red..” WOW. how eerily powerful.

I was waiting for Stephanie to bring up that Esther caught on that Jack said a red room after saying earlier that it was a yellow room for Milly.

I imagined Jack as Cillian Murphy and Grace as Rachel McAdams (the movie Red Eye seemed like a perfect cast for this book, the way Cillian is so charmingly convincing fits as Jack)😅

The problem with narcissists is they are too confident for their own good. If after he said "think about how much harder it would be to see Millie here instead of Molly, she had told him "actually, its harder to see the dog." He wouldn't have known what to do bc all his plans were dependant on him thinking he "knew" how she thought.
