I'm an expat American now living in the UK. I would never even think of approaching a mounted guard without saying please and then thank you. I can still feel my mom's hand on the back of my head and her voice saying "didn't I bring you up better?"when I forgot my manners.

I was riding almost before I could walk. Don't these fools realize the horse is under control by the rider. The reins are like the steering wheel of a car. What fool would grab a steering wheel away from a driver. The stupid offended looks I see on these idiots faces really make me wonder.

The horse stands for one hour, the Guard sits astride for a little longer, taking into account mounting, and dismounting etc.

It's not a castle. The building itself houses the Household Cavalry Museum and it's the entrance to Horse Guards Parade---a big ceremonial parade ground where you may have seen the recent Trooping the Colour. It's also the formal entrance to Buckingham Palace---you cross the parade ground and turn into The Mall, the long road that leads up to Buckingham Palace just under a mile away.

Right?! I noticed it's the same scarf and newspaper from a previous recent video. Hundreds of people passing by and not one thinks to pick up the litter. I'm sure there are plenty of bins around. I wanted to reach through the screen and take care of it, too.

Believe me, they dont. With a 5.30 am fiest duty ( horses exercised in school) and they have to groom and tack horses ready . It really us not a good idea. I suspect thst any soldier reporting for duty drunk woukd be severely dealt with.

A soldier/officer wouldn't dream going on duty Drunk. Unless they love getting a right Bollocking and losing some of their salary, from their CO. I remember my husband got a bollocking from his CO reference telling the GSM to f. O. Something you don't do in the army. So being drunk is a no no
