She is like Lauryn Hill in the sense that she didnt put out that much music (for tragic reasons), but like Lauryn, she hasnt got really any bad music. Its real, its soulful, passionate, and got the right amount of pain that I look for in music. Liten to any of her albums.

She died of alcohol poisoning at age 27. She had a tragic life. Heavy drug problems, psychological problems, toxic relationship and suffering since teen years from bulimia. Also she couldn´t handle the pressure to be a world star over night. Look at pictures from her before she wrote back to black album. She looked healthy ( but still had Bulimia), but she was smiling, had a glimmer in her eyes. After the big succsess, she lost the light in her eyes, lost massive weight and was still in chaos. watch the documentation movie Amy from asif kapida. it is a very good insight in her life. the media portraitet her always like a zombie, but she was a human. poor girl. The last words from her to her bodyguard while watching song clips of her: boy i can sing! But if I could I would return to a normal life and leave all that behind me. when she died, I couldn´t belive it. 10 years ago..damn.

here is a thing, its an ant-drug song, her boyfriend at the time liked coke (not the drink, she called it the black times) and she liked to smoke (not tobacco) and there was a mismatch between them. in the end, she was the one who took the long deep sleep..

Before we even get into this: If you watch other reactors doing Angelina Jordan you'll find many who hear some similarities in her singing style and Amy's, after this reaction you'll see why... Angelina loves Amy and did several covers of her songs, Back To Black is one of them, Valerie another and also Rehab and maybe more I don't remember right now... so maybe you wann react next to Angelina covering Amy, now you can appreciate and enjoy those all the more... so now, let's go...!
@Hundhammer3 жыл бұрын
Loved your reaction, you sure can tell beauty when you encounter it! By suggesting Angelina's take on Amy above I didn't mean you should stop reacting to Amy! Of this song I only knew the official video, which is a legit work of art in itself, but very different, much darker... but here she brought a totally different vibe to it and her improvisations (or intended and rehearsed runs - I think she did it spontaneously, she was such a great artist...), great, happy to have found this one for the first time on your channel! Next you could listen to those of Amy's Tracks that were covered by Angelina later, so you can compare them - not as to who might be better, they're both unique elite artists in their own rights, but to be able to appreciate (or not, that's up to you...) the decisions Angelina took in regard to these songs... Valerie might be a good start: Live from DVD: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJLQd52ZhMx7iac

Ironic that she sang the song “Rehab” which she really needed to save her life. She chose not to and died at 27 fr0m booze and drugs. Sad that someone who was so talented was so tortured to the point that she gave up on herself and life. Addiction is a difficult situation to be in but you can overcome it if you try. Thanks for sharing.
