Fast Forward to August 2020: This prison just got busted for a large scale drug smuggling operation that included the Deputy Warden, 7 corrections officers, and the Assistant to the Court Administrator.

How about revising the laws to decriminalize marijuana possession, sending drug addicts to rehab and alternative sentencing for dui charges?

Asheenia is on the right track. I worked as an RN for 17.6 years in a state max security prison and saw all the growth from the early 90's on. "Three strikes and you're out" was meant to hide the destruction of industrial base through NAFTA and GATT while lining "friendly " correctional companies with fat profits. How much? I was at a convention in Chicago in '04 sponsored by the American Correctional Association. The grand door prize for attendees was a tricked out Dodge Ram 4x4. No kidding. Locking people up is not the answer. Creating an economic climate where those who are unskilled can earn a living to support themselves and their families is what is needed. We need to go back to the way things were 100 years ago

this place is a JOKE!!! I did a few months in here 14 years ago n te conditions were just as bad then as they are now!! in those 14 yrs they could of built a few new jails!! they need to let all the people with all the minors offenses go because they don't belong in jail all the ones waiting to be sent up state send them the day they get sentenced instead of holding them there for months sometimes years all the addicts with drug charged send them to rehabs where they need to be not in jail, they ain't getting no kind of help in jail n definitely not in fayette county!! then they would have room for the people instead of paying rent with our tax dollars to send them somewhere else when theres no need to!! if they would of listened to the state over 20 years ago and built the new jail NONE of this would be this bad!!!!

In Florida they put them in tents....while they built a new one and it was in the 100s it was a sweaty situation! It was years before it was all done! But the bad guys have a nice cozy place now.

Good point. You don't think an elected official would spend money on tents do ya? But, they did it in Arizona ! Then Sheriff Joe Arpaio put it together.

I did 3 months when ever I was only sentenced 3 days for a D.U.I over marijuana do they not have anything better to do then to fucking pis with someone who only smokes some weed like the so called law enforcement we have around here are only about the money they make not about if we really need there help I'll personally never if my life call 911 for help unless either something wrong with one of my kids not breathing or something happens with my wife's sugar . Now if it was me with a blwn off fucking leg I'd rather stitch it closed my self then to even set foot in the Uniontown Hospital

I do believe that Joe Hardy was going to build a new prison there he only wanted his name engraved on it but the city didn't allow it, Could be a rumor but thats the word going around. I wouldn't even let my dog stay there

This is insane. 'Needs to be shut down acct doesn't meet standards" What 'Standards' are you talking about. LOOK AT THE STONE WALLS THAT PLACE IS MADE OF. It probably would survive anything ! I give up. We're DOOMED ! I'm ready for the 'Basket Weaving' Classes. Maybe that I'll understand ?

Fayette County Jail,what the 'prisoners' affectionately call "The Rock" is Over-Crowded,dilapidated,under-staffed abuse of a Penal Institution. The 'prisoners' are horribly under-nourished with extremely poor access to medical care(medical indifference)and on an 'average' within a hairs-breath of Scurvy. Pestilence such as Scabies is common place,with quarantine limited to transfer to the Jails "Annex"(or visa-verse to "The Rock"),relocation to another "Block" within the Jail Proper and quite frequently abandoned to neither re-locations,but instead in "all" instances remaining in continual contact with Jails Population,to spread this "Misery" to "any & all". How this Draconian,Nazi Model of a "Jail" is not closed,is an example of "Corruption" at the "Highest Level"! I could go on & on about this "Inhumane Hell Hole" where people sit "Ages" for simple offences(without trail) and "sheriff's/Constable's fees",but I will save it for later. May "The God of Those Imprisoned" have "Mercy" on these Imprisoned,because "Corrupt Fayette County will not"!

i
