I wish I had read the Relaxation Response when it came out in the 70s. I did buy it, but just was "too busy" with full time parenting, working a full-time night shift, & all that goes along with divorce & being a single mother to actually take time out of my day to sit down, relax & calm my thoughts. I have needed this probably all my life, but never thought I had the time to relax & take some me-time. There was just "so much to do". Foolish thinking on my part. So I've continued to live in a spiral of anxiety, insomnia & the results of not sleeping. I just bought Say Goodnight to Insomnia by Gregg D. Jacobs, Phd with a foreword by Herbert Benson. This got me to thinking about the Relaxation Response. My book is long gone, unread, but at this late date, I was able to find this video which, I read, is the crux of the book.. Dr. Benson has such a kind demeanor & soft voice I will do this twice a day. I know it will make a difference with my out-of-control anxiety. Very thankful for his selflessness. I wish he were still here to see how appreciative I am of his efforts.

This guy gave a great gift to the world. Only, unlike "his Holiness" the Maharishi, he didn't seek to make a vast fortune (for himself) out of it and charge the earth for something that can be demonstrated in minutes. And here, you have it for free. It works and is very little different from TM!

exactly but costs hundreds to be taught the 'secret' of T.M. and then you find out its no secret - no different than using mala beads etc. So great he shares without all the hype, just simple function of breaking through the constant busy of the mind.

Use this video to help others before they ever get closer to Transcendental Meditation (TM) groups because they will charge you lots of money. This is exactly the same technique. This meditation has given me a lot of benefits and it's very easy and effortless. Everyone deserves to know this regardless of income, academic, race, religion etc.

When we reach the universal consciousness, there is no need to argue about God. Before reaching universal consciousness, though we talk about God we are far from him. Cheers.

he never acknowledged the Hindu sources of his relaxation response practice which was directly taken ipso facto from the yoga parampara of yog Nidra, such an ungrateful man!
@admin84464 жыл бұрын
Yoga Nidra was renamed as Lucid Dreaming. Relaxation response is just renamed Transcendental Meditation.
@neorich593 жыл бұрын
Actually, I think he does just that in his book. He certainly references T.M. but gives you the same results (I've tried both) without all the initial hocus-pocus of T.M. and the fact that they don't tell you that your "special" mantra is merely based on your age. It's easy to check this to verify it..I was given mine while I was in my 20s. I no longer use it! I simply use the word "one!"
@andreaboldingwellness8379 Жыл бұрын
@@admin8446 . relaxation repsonse is a physiological action that is elicited by many many ways - one of these he says at the beginning of this video "a basic way to ..." is this practice, and he explains repitition of a word, whilst disregarding other thoughts. He says in another video it is described in the Upanishads, TM is just one form of repetitive meditative practice - and it also elicits the relaxation response yoga nidra is not a repetive meditative practice - but it also can elicit the relaxation response. Lots of activities can like art, gardening and anything that disrupts the thinking mind and gets you into a 'flow state' away from the default network of the brain

1. who cares 2. at least he's not trying to make a fortune by suggesting you need to pay out the ass to learn it
