Herbes de Provence, a distinct mix of herbs common in Southern France, is an ingredient I probably saw a few times on menus while going out to eat. It was after checking the ingredients in the grocery store pack when I realized it was very straightforward to make. Several herbs were already on my spice rack, while others needed to be purchased for the first time.
