Herbie, your opening words , yes, wisdom, philosophy, the world of advanced technology, warm sound, amazing piano, the idea origionally for cantelope island and watermelon man, hero groups, here and Japan, Stanley Clark, Wayne shorter, Chick Corea, love the drums and effects and synth. This technology is Art, beautiful creation. The future can use pure good reasoning and knowledge, no war, in communities morality, guidance, nurturing, health, of youth. Few people can can teach your advanced level of musicianship. Thank you.

Was just listening to Chameleon. Terri Lyne is laying on the funk, pulling back the beat -- you want it so bad, but she won't let you have it ! So good...

I was randomly cheking Herbie Hancock's you tube videos while waiting for his long-awaited New Zealand concert in October. I just tuned this live concert and gues who I did find out in it? GIGI --my fellow Ethiopian world-class singer and poet who recorded her masterpieces with afew legendary musicians like Herbie. Kebero--the first song played on this video is one of her masterpieces.

One of my favorite's is Herbie Hancock's Watermelon Man.no really being serious Future2Future Concept of electronics and jazz improv and traditional jazz with Wallace roney and Terry Lynn Carrington some of the Best jazz artist's in the world, but Herbie can handle such an ensemble of free jazz the world has never known. 😎🥳✨💯💥😛🎂🎹😘

This is one of the first jazz albums I owned and I played the CD into the floor. Watching this live for the first time was a delight, thank you for the upload!
Surprisingly cooool. Great! Terry, though not so inventive this once, gives the cards. Just imagining that adding percussive acompaniment would fit effective, richer and less mechanic.. By this way, the turntables sometimes sounds like Airto Moreira's cuica. Enjoying for the Nth time this Irresistible groove.

I recognize Terri Lynne Carrington and Matt Garrison, but who are the DJ, trumpeter and the other Keyboardist? Yes, the audio & video quality are top notch, thanks for the post, peace.
@@belsha Thanks for the full personnel info. Didn't recognize Wallace Rooney, yes he was a helluva trumpet player and will be sorely missed. Peace.

It’s electronic/jazz fusion.. I know the other guy said fusion, and that’s not wrong, but a lot of times people think of just straight fusion as jazz rock/rock jazz.. Herbie did some of that in his career, is maybe best known for his funk fusion (so more funk with jazz, than rock with jazz) which differed a lot between the 70s stuff and 80s… and of course he’s known for straight jazz. But this period was really a blend of the “electronica” and ambient of the late 90s/early 2000s, with the jazz he’s always killed at since 1960… ✌️
