I remember watching the Herbie movies when I was young. I watched The Love Bug when I was 4 or 5 years old I think. I also saw Herbie Rides Again and Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo on my DVR (Digital Video Recorder) back in 2008 and 2009.

This is a pretty good way to introduce us to what Alonzo Hawk is like. Quite a big cast. There are a few of them whose characters we still don't know. Like Hal Williams. No one seems to know who he played.

The great building razed at 1:48 was the Traymore Hotel, Atlantic City: a famous demolition (footage also used in Sabrina series: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpmkd3d6n7KEibs). At 1:00, you can see the demolition of Hotel Hickory, at Hickory, NC. At 1:10, that was Hunt Building, at 4th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. There should be also some footage from Atlanta, Georgia.

ah yes the loaxzo family, the first family of explosive demolition, and their family pioneered its use in emplosions, though dynamite had been used to bring stuff down before hand but not whole buildings and not stratigicly placed charges.

The opening credits to _Rides Again_ is almost like a summary of this film's flaws. It starts off with the Herbie theme for a few seconds, and then immediately changes course to focus on the entire Alonzo Hawk plot. _Rides Again_ isn't a bad film, but it's just a generic late-1960's romantic comedy shoehorned into the Herbie universe, and that's forever going to be its problem - it's not a "Herbie film," it's a "film with Herbie." You could easily splice some of the scenes into any other of it's contemporaries - _That Funny Feeling_ or even _The Guide for the Married Man_ - and the scenes would feel at home. Come to think of it, _Rides Again_ is also the most 1960's film I've ever seen come out of the mid-1970's. Funny thing, its sequel - _Monte Carlo_ - fixes that problem, but falters from poor direction and an incompetent screenplay. It needed at least three or four rewrites to have come anywhere near _The Love Bug_ - but in the middle of our racing film, we get a childish automobile love story weaved into a silly Pink Panther spoof, smashed head-on into a feminist subplot which is executed as straight drama, and two evil drivers that barely even make a dent in the other three elements. _Monte Carlo_ has tonal whiplash, but each element is so poorly executed that the sum comes off as pure cinematic mush. Don't get me started on _Bananas_ though. That's kitchen sink filmmaking right there.
