Herbie Rides Again (1974) Soundtrack - Main Theme

This is the version of Herbie's main theme that plays in Herbie Rides Again during his dream. I am uploading this because this theme doesn't exist on it's own without SFX playing in the background. So what I did was download the scene in the movie that plays this theme and edited it in a way that removed the SFX so it'll only play the music. Hope you enjoy!

Agreed. He had a series of movies from The love bug to Herbie rides again to Herbie goes to Monte Carlo to Herbie goes bananas. And a TV remake of the love bug starring Bruce Campbell in 1997. AND a television show with Dean Jones reprising his roll as Jim Douglas. And finishing off with Herbie fully loaded in 2005 starring Lindsay Lohan. And a few cameo's in television. American Dad for example.

I have the original theme as my phone ringtone. People ask me: "Whats that ringtone from?" And I'm like "Your favorite love bug!" And they either have absolute no fucking clue or they do and ask ".......... Wait-...... Herbie has a theme song?" And I'm like "Yeah!" I’ve been doing essays on movie series in the past. And to be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to this series as I was to others. My memories of this series was that it was very forgettable and uninteresting. The reasons for me saying this was for the weakest parts. I hate how childish certain scenes are, the soundtrack sounded like it was a glitchy experiment from the 60s, and a good chunk of this series was planted in my mind as the corniest things I’ve ever seen. But for the sake of an essay, I looked past these things, rewatched all the movies and TV episodes, hoping that something would stick out. And while watching, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. And I realized it most certainly does NOT get the respect, credit, and love it deserves. The reasons for this, in my opinion is that the first movies are overshadowed by the last two adaptations, The Love Bug TV remake movie from 1997, and the Not-So-Great Lindsey Lohan movie Herbie: Fully Loaded from 2005. The 90s movie was a remake of the original movie while continuing the series at the same time. It did okay for the character and at the box office but was destroyed by Titanic and Jurassic Park. The 2005 movie was a reboot and played it too safe using a lot of popular cameos and soundtrack songs to keep it alive. The movie did okay at the box office but was destroyed by Pixar animations and the Harry Potter series. In short, the movie was a soft reboot that failed to keep Herbie alive. But looking back on the past films before the final adaptations, I realized that this series is pretty damn good. The comedy parts are well done, and the action packed races are both exciting and interesting. I would even go as far out to say this is one of the most action packed and entertaining series of 20th century Disney. Amazing acting done by Dean Jones, Buddy Hacket, Michelle Lee, Bernard Fox, Bruce Campbell, Stephanie Powers, Helen Hayes, and so many more really brought out there own characters and made them feel like their own and interesting. Nowadays, side characters feel tacked on and not finished. This was not the case for this series. Each character feels well acted, finished, and relatable. This is a summary of what to expect out of the series, a lot of action, good comedy, amazing characters, well done romance, and strong messages. I hope you see what I’m saying, because was once among those who dismissed this series as a flop and dead end. I have seen the light though, and I hope I pointed reasons why others should as well. While it’s by no means the best series of the past, it most certainly deserves much more than what it gets today. This series was well done, but was overshadowed and overruled by the last two adaptations that drove the series downwards and ruined any possibilities of a reboot anytime soon. If you have sometime to yourself, sit down, watch the full series, and I swear, you will not be disappointed.

I've always seen the four originals independent of the 1997 TV movie or 2005 film reboot. While _Rides Again_ has better direction and a more polished screenplay than _Monte Carlo_ , it's problem is that the screenplay is just a generic late-1960's romantic comedy shoehorned into the Herbie universe. You could easily splice some of the scenes into any other of it's contemporaries - _That Funny Feeling_ or even _The Guide for the Married Man_ - and the scenes would feel at home. Come to think of it, _Rides Again_ is also the most 1960's film I've ever seen come out of the mid-1970's. On the other hand, Monte Carlo fits perfectly within the Herbie universe, but falters from poor direction and an incompetent screenplay. It needed at least three or four rewrites to have come anywhere near _The Love Bug_ - but instead, we get a childish automobile love story weaved into a silly Pink Panther spoof, smashed head-on into a feminist subplot which is executed as straight drama, and two evil drivers that barely even make a dent in the other three elements. _Monte Carlo_ has tonal whiplash, but each element is so poorly executed that the sum comes off as pure cinematic mush.
