Everyone's saying "pass" because it's belt driven & assume they wouldn't be able to scratch on it but all these portable decks like the PT-01, Stanton STX, Reloop SPIN are all belt driven & we've all seen what Turntablists can do with those.

Great entry-level controller . I personally require more connectivity and features, but it's still a great piece of gear. DENON was actually the first to release a belt driven controller back in the early 2000s, i owned a pair called the DN-S5000. They were belt driven and lightweight.

Early 1980's DJ's well some of us had the Technics slb300's prior to saving up for a pair of 1200's, nothing against belt drive turntables the Numark pt01 are belt driven. Honestly if you are New Music Seminar or DMC style scrathing then these may not be for you. As for the price it is a great add on choice for mobile dj's or a first dj controller for a teenager looking to get into dj'ing. I would love to test this out.

Brother, I bought the Inpulse 500 8 months ago. It has issues. The volume levels between the 2 platters are unequal. Their customer service department is horrible. I have gotten great support from Serato as I use DJ Pro. They have been trouble shooting my issues and genuinely trying to solve the problems. Big props to Serato, to Hercules, nothing!!!

Belt Driven or Direct Drive, i just like the fact that Spinning platters are being pushed to controllers these days, Coz few months or years ago you could only name a few.

Great controller Denon tried that route with his cd controller but after a while the belt does get stretched and it's harder to scratch on it. It's not just the pitch that gets affected. I wonder if it's gonna be the same with this controller.

I purchased this unit a few weeks ago…..I lasted about 2 weeks on it and noticed some flaws…… 1 . Volume when fader is in the middle goes down and when you move it to either side the volume is increased drastically… so deck 1 volume is at 8 slide to the middle volume for both deck goes down to let’s say 6 and now you move it to deck 2 volume jumps back to 8 … just not good. Yes the mp3 are equal with volume… problem 2. So your blending and it goes out of sync, so you nudge it a little to slow it down, it does so when you remove your finder (hand) it speeds up and you are out of sync … not good. 3rd issue, pitch control is not accurate you have to move it quite a bit for it to make a change and then it jumps off beat. The internal sound card is not good, sound it crackly and noticeably bad. I’m running a 2020 MacBook Pro, 64 go of ram … pretty much a high end model. Serato is adjusted for performance… so at the end I returned it and purchased the Rane One and immediately noticed a huge difference in sound and pretty much a plug and play for the controller except for a firm update and done, it’s been a couple of days, ran some stress tests and so far so good.

The Pioneer ddjSZ that feel good they just need to add more effect I had no problem with it and it remind me of pioneer cdj 800 still run good we posed to be DJ not making beats on a DJ equipment leave that to the studio let's DJ don't stop the fun

Yes, it is. I have a Panasonic beltdrive turntable which is suitable for DJ'ing (my late father bought it in the 80s and I've used it in the late 90's when I started out DJ'ing) but it's not the best for learning. I disagree with D.Lirious, because scratching on a beltdriven turntable (why else would you buy a turntable these days ??) will mess up both the needle and belt quite fast. I have a set of 10+ year old direct drive turntables and I've never had to service them yet. Of course, a cleaning set is mandatory, but that's a 20 euro/dollar investment and some time to do it right. Apart from all of this, if you want to get the feeling of oldschool DJ'ing and learn how to spin those wheels of steel without scratching, then yes, the belt driven turntables are a 100% good investment.

My take is this is 2023, they have had time to perfect the belt on belt drive platters by now. Plus we have key lock technology I think it should be a better experience than the old 70s - 80s technology. Also there is no needle to wear out you only have to worry about the belts themselves. I would think that over the past 40 to 50 years that they can get this right.

I remember wear and tear on my belt drive so I'll pass, got the Rane One instead. Well worth it. But $700 this is not a bad deal TBH but still I wouldn't trust it.

Be careful, I have the Inpulse 500. The paint 🎨 comes off the panel by the faders. And my Inpulse has a volume discrepancy between platter 1 and platter 2.

lol belt drives are fine for scratching. omni turntable is belt drive. one of best turntables for scratching out there, probs best 7" platter rig full stop.
