In a time, full of special effects, cg backgrounds and unrealistically ripped heroes with crazy superpowers... this scene feels so much stronger. Amazing acting by a very young Lucy Lawless, haunting soundtrack by Joseph LoDuca and exceptional writing and directing by the creative team. That's enough to make the character of Xena. The moment she stands back on her feet after surviving the gauntlet, you realise she is a powerful, yet relatable, hero.

Dude CGI didn't exist in those budgets the special effects crew used cardboard glue and toys from kids bedrooms to make cool stuff with. In those days.

In this digital age, studios have lost/forgotten what REALLY made a good show/movie. With great acting, awesome background music n cool practocal effects n costumes, this scene is made more memorable than most scenes that you get nowadays. It true what they say...they DONT make em like they USED to! This is why you can NEVER beat the classics
