Humans have consistently failed to understand how intelligent & emotional elephants really are. To prove my point their is a guy in Thailand who plays classical piano to elephants & they show a definite appreciation for Beethoven & Bach. The music even calms down an aggressive, stressed out adult male.

So it's 1 September 2024 and so much has happened since Khanyisa's arrival which I've followed from the start. Ups and downs, periods of illness and worry, but Khanyisa has grown so she and Timi are now like twins! Sadly since Khanyisa's arrival, two rescued babies did not survive - Fenya who succumbed to fatal snare injuries and Phabeni, a young bull we thought would make it but to everyone's shock, gastritis took him. We still grieve as they were dearly loved and everything possible was done to save them. They will never be forgotten and always remain loved. Khanyisa is HERD'S Miracle as she continues to thrive amongst her Elephant family. She still has that strong, unbreakable bond with her human Mama Adine and that will never end. God Bless Adine and the entire HERD Team.

Oh my goodness. This brings back so many memories!!! One year ago, I read about a rescued baby Albino Elephant who had been caught up in a poachers snare and that began my introduction to Khanyisa and Herd Elephants! We knew her prognosis was not good but we hadn't reckoned on her Incredible spirit nor the absolute determination from the Wonderful Founder of HERD Elephants, Adine Roode, that this baby was not only going to survive but eventually join her new family, the Beautiful Jabulani Herd. One year on, through joy, worry, illness, sleepless nights, more worry, more joy - and that's just from us followers!! - Khanyisa is part of the Jabulani Herd. An adopted Mama Lundi, sisters, aunts, uncles - she is thriving!! I adopted her early on - as did many others - and she is just a JOY!!! God Bless and Thank You Adine, all the Carers, Doc Rogers, Ben and Helen van Hulle, everyone who helped during lockdown and of course Lammie The Legend!! You have all given 110%, worked when you were utterly exhausted and just kept on going, often running on empty. Thank You Sue and Tamlin for your fantastic support and I'm sorry if I've missed anyone! This film - with some unseen footage too - reminded me of what an Epic journey this has been for a baby Elephant who just wanted to live, and the human and Elephant families who helped her - and continue to help her - every step of the way. I love you Khanyisa and Everyone at Herd Elephans and Jabulani Safari!! 💛🐘💛🐑💛🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I’m back again; watching this never grows old. This precious little ellie will never know her impact on our world; only on her world upon which her stamp is definitely made! The love she evokes is universal, endless, unconditional. I am so excited because I have contacted Jabulani Lodge to start planning my visit. It’s surreal to think one day soon, I will watch the ellies, outlined by the sunset, as they return to the Homestead. I am totally sure that I will ‘lose it’ when I see the outlines of Khanyisa, Timisa, Jabulani and all the ellies walking with the sunset behind them 🥹🤧🙏❤️🐘❤️

Sweeter than sweet. Her movements are like a human baby at times. Her eyes are so beautiful and how she gazes with her perky child wonder, and her cuddling, how she plays with toys, and rakes, wants to help, and do what you are doing, I just get my daily tears and feel a warm pride like she is such a good happy baby girl! I found you guys and gals about a year ago. I was totally amazed ! I only just now stumbled across this history of Khanysia's rehab and first year getting to know the herd. What a terrible time she had, losing her mom and suffering from her injuries. You have all been so gentle, caring, kind, guiding, and loving with her. I have enjoyed being "a part of her family, humans, ellies, lambs", and have been greatly touched by the individual ellies devotion to each other. I am totally endeared to them all. Especially to Khanysia because of her cute, adorable and funny antics. I can't thank you enough for devoting your lives to the animals ❣️. You are also helping me through this terribly political time and the awful things our own "American born" treasonous people are doing to try and murder our nation. I have you and the ellies to share your knowledge, your beautiful country and your love. Thank you from the depths of my heart ❣️ 😊 🌳🚶🏾♂️🐘🚶🐘🧍🏼♂️🐘🌿🌻

Her personality is to die for! I know she is now ready to join the wild elephants but I'm avoiding seeing her last night in the Orphanage. It breaks my heart, although I know she needs to be in the wild with her own kind. And I think she'll more than likely enjoy it to the fullest once she gets acclimated. But I'm frightened of seeing that last night video. At some point though, I will. I love this elephant. Dearly. As do you all of you her carers. THANK YOU FOR SAVING AND LOVING HER.

It will be much more I think. This is such a special herd. They are orphans and yet accept each new elephant w/such love and protection. To have all the bulls in the same herd is just beyond rare. Adine's dream of giving orphans a Elephant family is not rare, what IS rare is how they are all orphaned and have formed a family/herd of females and males. The bulls are just as protective of the herd and the babies in it as are the females. It is an extraordinary story of hat will become known worldwide.

Brave and beautiful Khanyisa. She is worthy of all help and healing. Her spirit inspires many, including myself, to be more in tune to life in all its aspects. Blessings to her for a long and happy life. I mourn for Fenya, another brave and beautiful girl who sadly lost her fight for life. May her rest be all good things.

Poor little sweet baby girl 🐘 I can’t bear to see any animal injured & in pain. Thk goodness for Social Media & all the wonderful Animal Rights, Wildlife, MarineLife & Welfare Groups to join, donate, advocate, ✍️ petitions & bring about Awareness. HERD has opened many eyes as well as other sites regarding the decimation of all Beautiful Wildlife. May God Bless all of you & Happy 1 yr Anniversary of saving & nurturing Khanyisa back to life as well as all the Jabulani Herd & Sweet Lammie🐑. Without your Compassion, Empathy, Love & Dedication this would not be possible. Thank you for sharing❤️🙏🌈🌺😇

Khanyisa always makes me smile. She definitely has a personality that is hers alone. I have loved watching her grow and thrive these last few years. Thank you for all you do for the Herd.

Little Khanyisa must have been so AFRAID on her own, as any babe would be, with no surrounding protective herd and lost from mommy - and hurt, and hurting. Even at her tender age, I think she instinctively knows the world is a dangerous place for a lone calf. Despite her unfamiliarity with "man," I feel certain she was grateful on some level when found to no longer be alone. Your people do wonderful work Thank you! Your commitment to ensuring the survival and safety of your herd is so clear, as well as imperative. I will likely never see an elephant outside of a zoo, yet I cannot imagine a world in which such intelligent and incredible creatures did not exist! I can't offer my physical services or give my time to help in your daily mission. But, I CAN commit to a small monthly donation. How may I do so?
