it’s not selfish to want recognition for your work! It’s like citing sources for papers! If I repainted the Mona Lisa and the passed it off as 100% my original design that wouldn’t be okay. Also to people doing this there is no shame in stating someone as inspiration! It doesn’t make your art any less yours because you did it! It’s just showing respect to your fellow artist! You’d want the same done for you!

@CatmeleonStudio

@@stevebrown3159 Yyyyy.... It's Monster High doll... I stated it even in the thumbnail. The owner of the doll is me, because I bought her. The owner of the design (Mattel) sold it to me and what I am doing with it is up to me. That is how customizing works. As long as I am not stating that my new doll is an original Monster High design or I am not using the og design and claim that it is mine - it is totally legal. Trust me - I checked. The doll here is just a base and I am redesigning it completely. I do not use someone else's design... it's just weird that I have to explain it?

Thank you! A lo of people on Instagram are sharing their creations with me, stating that they were inspired by my works and I love this so much! At the beginning everyone was inspired by someone after all! But few times I just stumble upon figurines that were veeeeery heavily inspired by my specific works with the same design choices, the same techniques and ways of working being used... and zero credits. It is jus hard to feel flattered then.

It would be so awesome to see more humanoid spider girls!! I could imagine one with fluff or something. This could be a great start at a new family project like the bees or succubus ones. And I think people who are taken inspiration from your art should at least be so kind to give you credit that you deserve. It doesn't hurt to mention that they've got the idea from you. It doen't make their art any less, they still made it. I always tell people when they see my art, who inspired me to do that. Keep your great artwork up, and don't let anybody get to you because they tell you your selfish. You aren't. It is your right to wanting credit of your own creations.

Your work is always top-notch! This was so amazing to see! Also, on the topic of other artists ripping off your/others' work.......they're lucky that you're nicer than I am, because I would have called them out with comparison shots and all kinds of receipts! Frome one creative to another, nothing is worse than an unoriginal "artist" stealing someone else's idea, making little tweaks, and pretending it was their own creativity that brought the project to life. You have every right to be irked by this!

She's amazing! I'm terrified of spiders, but this is one of the most beautiful dolls you've created. I love that you gave her many extra eyes. Have you considered making a doll with two heads? I would love to see a conjoined twin or simply two-headed doll translated through your lovely creepy style!

She looks drop dead gorgeous! I'll call her Arachnid the seductive spider demon. (Story) In the darkest age of Greece Arachnid daughter of Arachne was out Lust & Pride, her weaving skills were very unique but using that skill cute lead men to their doom. Arachnid was indeed a spider witch like her mother, a professional widow who did unimaginable things during the dark ages like hanging her victims upside down, drain of blood & dragged around, clothes ripped to shreds while the walls were painted in blood, even the furniture were chewed & crushed like a savaged beast trashed the men's homes. She disguised herself as a beautiful women & lead men to her cave thus ending their lives, beware the spiders should thou enter their webs will only leads you to the path of death. See you on your next video & Happy Birthday.💖🕸🕷

I think you're right about people crediting you for your hard work. I work as a freelance translating and creating articles and content and I often work as a ghostwriter, which means people get credit for the work I create because I'm broke enough to allow them to trademark with their names. It's really upsetting, but I sign for it nonetheless. You work so hard and always are respectful to other creators and it's one of the reasons I keep coming (besides the incredible amazing work you create, of course). It's honestly the bare minimum for them to mention you. I don't follow many artists but it's true that a lot of people have joined the doll customisation family and I see all kinds of rude recreations and they also act rude and delete your comments if you try to call them out, so I hope people get called out with this particular video and start mentioning creators as they should

People nowadays aren't as considerate as they have been in the past. I love the creativity of Earth to Layla and you. I was first shown doll reworking by watching Poppen Atelier, but now I pop in on everyone. I've noticed that artists in the craft community (Ace of Clay, Moriah Elizabeth, Needy Crafter, Dollightful, Graveyard Loon and Jazza Art) OFTEN refer to each other in their projects and sometimes collaborate on projects together. They encourage each other's efforts and it makes me feel great toward them in the fact that they break down the bad side effects of competition and are free to create a true art community. I am not happy that others are not mentioning their inspirational artists in the doll remake community. I was SOOO inspired by your bumblebee fairies that I sent your videos to others to enjoy. I doubt that I will ever make videos of my own work, but if I ever do, credit will be given to the artists that inspired me. And no, I'm not doing bumblebee fairies... you have perfected them in my opinion, so any projects that I take on will be of my own visions! Best of luck to you! BTW, this black widow is fantastically creepy and exotically beautiful at the same time!

Thank you for this lovely comment! Yes, we need to uplift and respect each other here in doll customization community. I love that many customizers are joining forces in collaborations and stuff like that. Crediting each other is also nothing new or weird. I heard Dollightful mentioning Etellan, Etellan mentioning Of Crafts & Curios etc. That is why this is even more bizarre and shady for me, when someone is taking so much from my work and shush... not a single word or link or shout out... nothing. It just felt wrong.

I think this is my favorite doll that you've made so far, which is quite a feat considering I think they are all incredible. Just every aspect of it is wonderful -- the concept is so unique, the execution so clean, the design so beautiful and haunting. Even the way it all fits together, like the skull perfectly resting between the front legs and the way the spider body fits in the cave! I could go on and on. Thank you so much for making this and sharing it with us! I always look forward to your videos.
