Keep in mind plug wires crossed nite One. (Cause/contribution?) On that Put #'s on cap & plug wire ends for quic monitoring. Good runs this wknd!
@matchthat50533 жыл бұрын
Engine builder I talked with said the crossed wires could have started the damage due to high compression engine being fuel injected not firing at the right time and building large amounts of fuel and igniting late. I'm really looking forward to finding out the true cause.

Ok,first off,i just actually happened to run into these two,brother and sister career is a dream come true for myself,but unfortunatelly,im the only one outta my own familly thats addicted to dirt racing,im from (gatineau quebec canada),and use to run street-stock division,and moved up to 358 mods,for two years,but the only thing was that i wasnt driving my own car,i was driving for the owner of the dirt track in edleweiss qc,witch unfortunatelly,closed down due to neigtbours complaints for the noise,but they never ran any races passed 11h,p.m.,but sadly,they shut it down in 2010,and also the person who i used to drive for,sadly passed away in 2009 also,wich was also,the end of my ride and also my career,and ive never been able to get back on track due to personal resons,and also the cost of a good car and a professional team,tools and ect-ect......

Guessing only/ bad cam broke ,no rpm issue. No oiling issue. Cam possibly fell to the floor before going in the Engine. Talk briefly to one of the best Engine builders. I ask him what could cause the cam to break after only the second night of racing. His answer is the gear drive. So I'm confused is it possible the hydraulic pump locked up and broke the cam. Or does the gear driven cam have a bad gear drive off the crankshaft. I hope you let us know. I was interested in what Carly said about losing the steering. If steering became rough just before Engine blowing then I would check for a bad pump also.
@tomcasey23623 жыл бұрын
Whether the cam went first or the rod went first, it’s common that the cylinder across from the the rod that broke will be damaged because those two rods share the same journal on the crankshaft. Usually the crank is too scored up and bent to used again.
@zacharyradford55523 жыл бұрын
From seeing the puffs of white smoke I’d say it was an oiling issue.

Tough deal on a race engine with very few laps on it. Most builders will not cover it. So minimum, you are looking at almost a new build. As the crank could very well be scored too? Heads "may" be salvageable, but surely need to be reworked. Block is likely OK, if cylinder walls and rings are good? One of those deals where you just get another engine, and rebuild this one as a spare. It hurt$ ! Been there more than once. Unless you have lots of funds, this is the most gut wrenching part of racing.
@TheCrewChief3743 жыл бұрын
Well one recommendation I would give is change the rods to new ones. Every time you have the engine gone through... That will lower you chances of having a rod break... Which is what I havr seen work with teams I have worked with in the past. From almost every time with reusing rods. To putting new rods in and not having a rod failure.

Raaaouch, Tanner my sons motor did something like that but with it we lashed the valves to tight and it mushroomed a lifter and broke the cam. Carly's looks like the bottom end went probably rod 6, if you watch her video again when she timed in and came in you videoed her shutting the car off and you can see orange flame and smoke out of the right header, so it was burning a bit of oil then
