I use my Z7 with the 40F2 and 70-180 or the Fuji XT5 with the 18-50 and Carl Zeiss 32 1.8 as my travel solution. I thought about the ZF and tried but did not like the handling. Maybe it's because I already have a Fuji XT5, which is smaller and lighter. Although the XT5 does not have the performance of the ZF, it does what I needed in a smaller, more ergonomic package. Besides, I’m waiting for the Z6III.

It sounds like you're got your bases covered. I understand how you feel about the feeling of the Zf - the grip makes it feel much better. Most importantly, if youre happy with the results you're getting with the hear you've got is all that matters. IM looking forward to seeing the official specs for the Z6III. I won't be buying it but I'm excited for its release.

Congrats on the Zf! It’s a really great camera with some really great features. Maybe one day I’ll get a brown version. I use the same Peak Design bag, carry the Z8 with 24-120 attached, adapted Sony 16-35 and the Z70-100, plus other stuff in the front pocket. That how I packed when I was out and about in Mongolia, it works well and hold more than I expected.

love using my entire Leica M system lenses on the Z f! Voighlanders like the 50mm f1.0 ASPH, TTartisan, and native Leica Summicron 50mm f2.0. So far, this is the best Nikon for manual focusing lenses and I get to use the aperture ring on the lens barrels.

MAN! I'm excited too, I got mine yesterday, I feel that I will have a lot of fun with this camera because of what you mentioned, it is good to go out and shoot and not feel like a pro photographer, I'll feel safer, and it is a pro-sumer camera in a retro body.. also, can't wait too try a lot of different lenses with it which with my Z8 I would not want to do, lol... great times coming, I don't understand why some people hate it... I mean, I understand, some hate the ergonomics, but I don't think it is bad at all... also, are you going to use it w/o the grip? Thanks for keeing this review positive and enthusiastic unlike some or a lot of people on youtube.

Thank you so much for checking my video. Yes, I love the camera and knew exactly what I was to expect from it. I wanted a retro camera so that means the ergonomics is going to be retro, duh, lol. @waynerm00210 ай бұрын
Hi Fel, congrats on the Zf, the grip makes it easier to hold for me, for sure. Since I already have 2 cameras, I’m waiting to see what the Z6 III brings. If they made a Df version that’s as wide and tall as the Z8, with the Z8 internals, better IBIS than the Zf and strip out the RAW video features, I would be in for that. Maybe in a couple of years once Nikon has video tech like Panasonic and Sony (stabilization and AI solo shooter features). Plus a Df or slightly larger grip built on the body.

Hi tks for the video. Any thoughts on the video auto focus. Nikon zf or Lumix 5 Ii which auto focus is better. Tks
@RobertSilverPhotography6 ай бұрын
Great question about the AF. They both seemed to deliver the same reliability in AF. I haven't, so far, noticed a huge difference between the two. I would be able to confidently use either. Could it be better - sure. But I've never been hindered or ruined a project by using the AF (face detect) on either camera system. The Lumix S5II has some video features that you won't find in other cameras at the price point. The ZF is super fun to use and built really well but not have nearly as many video options as the Lumix S5II. IT really comes down to your personal style and what lenses you want to use. Geez... sorry for the long-winded answer. I hope it helps in any way. Thanks for the comment :)

I like the ZF too. Just can’t get myself to get into another system. I already have Panasonic L mount and a ton of glass. I can’t dump that system because it’s my video workhouse. So if I go ZF I’ll need to get into a new system in addition.

I got my Zf just before Christmas and it certainly looks cute and all but I have no idea how to focus with it. And on the rare occasions when I do get a shot in focus I have no idea how I did it. Where's the focus point? Not a clue. I've given my D7100 to my grandson. Probably should have kept it. I also have the 40mm f2 prime but can't tell if I'm in auto-focus or manual focus. Like 'Operation Market Garden' in WW2 this is probably a bridge too far for me.
@RobertSilverPhotography9 ай бұрын
LoL I'm so sorry you're having this issue. Is this the first Nikon mirrorless camera you've used? If you adjust the AF-Area Mode (press the 'I' button) you can set the AF focus point to what you like. Perhaps right now you've got it on AUOT Area focus mode. Which won't show any specific focus point. Let me know if that helps.
