The mini max is an awesome option as well. Gives you the same weights, and solid components with a smaller profile.

Never had any luck with chatterbaits, granted I have only seriously started fishing a lot 3 years ago. Am watching every chatterbait video I can find. I am going to spend a lot of fishing hours this year with this bait to try and figure it out and hopefully catch something finally on a chatterbait cause right now I just don't have confidence in it even though everyone else seems to catch a lot on it.

Yeah same here it’s not a comfortable bait for me for whatever reason. I’ll go out next time and only take chatter bait

Same for me. Been trying on and off for over a year and no luck yet.
@chrismichaelson5668 Жыл бұрын
@@MrHabitat009 I started doing that towards the end of last year. Since I only recently got into serious fishing besides what I did off the dock as a kid, I didn't have much knowledge and experience with such the plethora of baits and techniques out there. So towards the end of last year when I would fish by myself, I would say to myself that I was only going to use one type of bait be it spinnerbait, crankbait, jig what have you and only concentrate on how to fish that type of bait with different retrieves, colors and locations. It worked out very good cause I had about the same confidence in the spinnerbait as I currently have with the chatterbait which wasn't much and that has now changed. That is why this spring, once the ice goes out , I am doing this same process with the next two baits/techniques that I am still lacking experience and confidence in and that is the chatterbait and the jerkbait and I have confidence from everything I have been watching over the winter that I can do with these that I did with the others. This is especially important for me to learn these this year as I am joining a fun bass league this summer and will need my knowledge base to be as big as I can get it cause I will be behind the guys that have been fishing these leagues for years.

I use the crosseyez chatterbait the most bc it has the weed guard on it and the orange eyes seem to help as well. I've caught some huge fish on them. I usually use a super fluke or a trick worm for a trailer. I've talked to a lot of people and most of them say they don't work but they work great year around for me. I think the trick is the retrieve, like Randy said gotta change it up. What works the best for me is constant medium speed, then about 3 or 4 turns real fast then let die for a couple of feet, then give it a good pump up and start over. This retrieve is killer around cypress trees

My favorite lure . Totally different opinion on line and retrieve. I did fish as co angler in tournaments . My method 60 pound braid heavy flipping stick . Try to get it in heavy cover get it hung up or not rip it let it fall repeatedly. I have not counted how many times I have straighten out the hook . I’d say it is in the 40 times before the hook breaks off . This keeps the boater from having to maneuver boat to get me unhung up. This system I called it “rip it and lip ‘em “

I never even got a bite on the OG chatterbait. It got hung up in the trees down at the river and I left it there. 2 years ago I reinvested into 6 or 7 new vibrating jigs and have managed just 2 or 3 LMBs on the jackhammer. The fish have seen everything too often here in highly pressured SoCal waters.

Thank you Randy... Love and happiness to your family! I have been hoping for a slightly linger video from you on Chatterbaits... Easily my favorite lure/ technique!! Most productive setup has been MH 7'6" Rod with a Moderate tip, 7:1 gear ratio reel, 10# braid......if I'm in waters with Pike or Musky, I will add a long 15- 20# flouro leader... The speed of the reel and softer rod tip have been key for me.

Hi Joseph, I can tell you from years of personal experience that if you use a composite or glass rod and just reel fast while applying firm steady pressure on the hookset, your bite/hook/land ratio on a bladed jig will be exceptional.

Don’t know if the original is ‘better’ since I’ve never fished one. The original works just fine. One question: why is the A rig considered a ‘fly-by-night’ lure? It has caught fish since the day is was introduced and still does - evidence MLF banning it again. Tournament officials don’t ban lures that are fads

I found so incredible comments under Mr Blaukat’s Vids i will leave here a secret of mine : I made so much test on bladed jig…. Today i fish them exclusively skirtless. Why ? Because i found the best trailer match and small jerks (just with the reel) make them dart side to side so wide they can miss it, specialy in tinted waters. Most trailers don’t vibrate to the specific frequency of the blade and create strange UFO bait in the water. So the shad style i found is the Fiiish black minnow’s body. Just try you will loose your mind. Find small blaided jig(BJ) and try with the small size ones too…….. 💥even trout proof bait. Some BJ will dart easily others not well. You have to find yours. I use the heaviest BJ on craw trailers, skirtless again, often the best match is a fat body compact craw with no vibrating parts & low drag like a dynagone. I crawl them slowly on the bottom like a football jig with pauses, hops & small jerks for darting action. It really open your mind the first time you remove those skirts, not half, not a little : all these skirts ladies ! 🎉

Are you talking SPINNING rod ? Randy mentioned every detail but spinning or casting. Btw I have zero chatterbait experience.
@devina.1051 Жыл бұрын
@@Tilbily typically I run it on a casting rod, because it’s basically the love child of a jig and spinner bait. But you can run it on whatever if you have the right setup.
@calebz1448 Жыл бұрын
@@Tilbily if you're bank fishing and need every bit of casting distance possible try a casting setup but personally I prefer throwing a 6.3:1 spinning reel for almost every application from a kayak and 50/50 from a boat. Only reason I use a casting setup is quick casts when I'm on the move or distance when needed but it's all situational for me even with the same baits
@calebz1448 Жыл бұрын
@@Tilbily but as the original comment says I like to use moderate slow action rods that have flex deeper into the middle of the rod(cheaper rods can work just as good for this) if you want to use braid for ripping out of grass the rod flex will be forgiving and allow the fish to hook itself without ripping the hook out and it will help to keep the line tension when the fish is further from you vs a stiffer rod giving the fish slack to throw the hook
