Here’s everything [BROKEN] on my 2005 Corvette

My 15 year old C6 is getting.....old. It’s starting to show as little things are breaking and causing problems all over the car. Here is everything that is broken on my 2005 Corvette right now. From the No Fobs Detected to the roof cracking. I’ve got Corvette problems! 😕
Should I sell it and get a C7? Should I try to get a C8 when they come out? Should I just sell it so I can park a different car in the garage?
Heel Tread sock giveaway still active! Once I get to 1000 subscribers I will give a pair of Gulf Heel Tread socks to one random person who makes a comment on any video of mine in 2019.

I feel your pain man. My C6 is just down and out at this point. Same cosmetic crap with the mirrors inside, my plastic trim around the center console cracked, that same rubber thing hanging by the seats, had the same fob issue. Bought a new fob and it worked for like a day and then stopped working. Had to do the doors unlocked routine and fob in glove compartment. Finally the car just stopped starting and would just crank and keep turning over but never started. Mechanic said it wasnt the starter, we changed some relays, tried this tried that.... nothing. Finally have up and just parked for now until i figure out how to revive it when i get time and $. I really dont want to let it go but geesh smh. Good luck w yours !

Yeah sounds a lot like mine. I’ve fixed just about all this except the key fobs. It the sensor behind the dash (RCDLR) that has gone bad and I want to fix it myself but it’s looking like a dealer might have to since they have to program it.

First of all this is a 15 year old car, and you should have tried to address these issues one by one when they first happened. I have a 2005 yellow convertible that I bought new . This car is the best Vette I have owned , and I have owned about 30 of them.The car looks like it just rolled out of the showroom. First model years for any generation, especially C6's, always have a malady of minor issues. Generally all are pretty simple to fix. Invest some money in interior components and DIY. Moving on, take your car to your local Chevy Service Department with a concise list of problems. They'll be glad to triage the issues like the fob(I have the same exact Calvin Klein key chain). Bottom line, if you had it for 10 years you must have kinda let it go? I'd trade it for either a much much newer C6, or up to a C7. (And yes we Corvette owners are generally brand loyal). Heck, you can find a 2019 Stingray for less than 55K(but those payments may as well get you into a 2020 C8). Keep us posted. Great video.

Dude, you didn't take care of the car...spend a few bucks and fix these extremely MINOR problems. ALL of the things you've mentioned are nothing...hell, you could fix all of that in a day. If you cant afford the maintenance on a 15 year old car then buy a later model car that is more your speed...like a Japanese chick car or something. The C6 is an exceptional car with outstanding performance, and you're whining about nothing.

All cars have shortcomings; some worse than others. Your key issue, and paint are likely to be the worst expenses you’ve mentioned. The roof I would replace with a body colored panel. Given the performance, and style you get from a Corvette, it’s no easy task finding something else that won’t cost considerably more to achieve that level of driving experience 🤷‍♂️
@SupercarRanch
@SupercarRanch 2 жыл бұрын
All was fixed and car has been sold. The worst issue, as far as difficulty, was likely the roof since I would have had to replace the glass panel. But that was pretty minor to begin with. No doubt though there is no car better for the price 👍

Bought a 2005 Corvette last year from dealership. They offered a 3-yr 30k warranty (stacks with the 19,500 miles it already had on it) and I took it. Well, took it to dealer for oil change (I prepaid those too like a sucker) and guess what? Car won't start. They ask me if I installed a kill switch. Nope. After some diagnostics, they determine that the FOB and transmitter is bad. Had to replace transmitter and both FOBs. Free, but would have been costly at dealership. Replaced the old stlye FOB with newer styles, so that was a win. Now my doors open the first time I try.

It’s really not. I know that’s the first thought that worked at first, but over time it was worse and worse on both remotes. After digging further, it’s a somewhat common issue that the device under the dash that reads the remotes dies. That’s what has happened. Doesn’t even really work in the glove box slot anymore that I had on a really old video on my channel. It’s really the only thing still yet to be fixed cause a dealer has to do it.

I feel for you bud. To get that clear bra off, get the car into the sun. Your going to sweat your ass off doing this.. Get a couple plastic razor blades ( yes their a real item) and about 8 or so replacement blades. A bottle of goo gone and a few kitchen sponges with that plastic mesh crap around them. Now car paint should be very warm in the sun. Start plastic razor blading the bra off. Go in small sections. Then apply goo gone let soak a few seconds, scrub with mesh sponge, then rescrape with blade , more goo and the sponge. Repeat till its removed. You say you want to do it. I would have gladly paid $500. to have someone else do it. Did it to my 05 C6. Paint is beautiful underneath. Take your time.
@SupercarRanch
@SupercarRanch 3 жыл бұрын
Hey man I appreciate the comment. I’ve tried that and just about every other trick. The warm paint didn’t seem to help, nor did a blow drier. Goo gone and decal remover work but it really just dissolves the whole thing and then you can’t strip it off in chunks. Good news is I got most of it off a long time And there is just a little left on the bumper and I’m actually getting that off this weekend. Then I gotta take it to get paint correction cause it left the paint underneath all cloudy. This older generation of PPF is crap. I hear the new stuff is way better. I’d pay someone $500 as well but was never able to find someone to do it at a reasonable cost. Any place that could do it would only Pay hourly and do the same thing I’m doing so it would cost thousands.

I think your key fob has bad connections, from corroded or broken contacts in it. And I say the key plugs into the glove box slot and not the whole key fob. Boy that hood sure sucks. They can seal that tire up.

Where did the car come from and where in the country do you live? general motors uses different glues and attachment options based on where the car is made and or going. GM's interiors are known to fall apart. I've known people who have gotten rid of their GM performance cars because of the low quality of the interior. Broken door handles, door locks not working properly, knobs not working, plastic pieces falling, center consol issues, etcetra. Many cars are cheaply built, but I think GM performance cars probably have the cheapest and poorest made interiors and exteriors of any other car company.

Thanks but that’s not the issue. It’s the fob detector in the dash.
