How is the arm fatigue later in the block? Seeing you primarily holding in 1 hand the entire approach has me intrigued. I have been watching you for a while and love your message and drive. I appreciate the grind and see the improvement. Minor advice could work for you like it does me and some of my kids. When I start leaving flat 10s I move up 3-6 inches in my approach. Take it or leave it. Hope all is well and keep grinding.

I mentioned his balance problem to him a week or two ago. He's a strong guy. It's working against him. He is off balance before release, at release, after release. That has to be fixed before anything else. He has to be able to hold his finish after every shot. Michael isn't even close to that now. Take away his much better than average strength and he'd be falling down.

When you switched to the purple hammer your form looked amazing with the low controlled backswing and the good shots struck, although as you saw ball motion was a little inconsistent. When you switched to the phaze 2 and moved left I noticed your backswing got higher lowering your rev rate which caused you to wrap the 10 a lot. When you switched back to the purple hammer your back swing looked the best and your ball was going clean through the pins. Keep at the low back swing it looks great!

From an old pro....I think you should go to classic style cradling the ball with your left hand. Bend at the waist, knees relaxed while holding the ball below waist level to wherever is comfortable. When you start your approach bring the ball up a little then remove left hand and continue making sure to hold your follow through at the line. I learned to open my stance and face a bit to the right when needing to swing the ball. IMO this should keep you lined up to your mark and give you time to adjust at the release point. That's basically what you are doing now so shouldn't be a major change. Should keep the arm swing more consistent, keep the wrist under the ball with more feel to rotate however much you need to.

Its tough going through a rebuild. My advice is to make sure your mental game is getting as many reps as the physical. I went through a complete rebuild coming back to bowling after 8 years away due to health problems and after getting the nuts and bolts figured out (new insert style, etc) i discovered the next step was creating the repeatable procees and for me at least that solidified when made sure one of the last steps was to visualize the result. And then after the shot is over making sure my first thought was not a reaction but an analysis of what happened. Your body language seems like you are getting down even when the shot is good. Stay positive, stay analyical.

Suggestion: If you check out Wayne Webb vids (and ?? who shot 300 holding ball at side) you'll see they hold ball straight down, use a fwd swing 1st & then lock wrist in during backswing & follow thru. Holding ball like you do a bit out front w/wrist already locked in & little fwd swing has gotta be killing your wrist. Plus I see it pull you off bal as time goes by. I know you're strong, but you'll never last if you qualify. Arm down; fwd swing. Half the energy expended, twice the result. I'd switch 2 this style on long oil; get ball 2 roll more, no crank.

Really like the hi-res video and music in this one. Looking at your scores that weekend there were no horrible games, and from the video it looked like it was just one or two errant shots each game that were the big difference. Your release at the bottom looked pretty nice and from what you showed your spare shooting was more solid than had been in some previous regionals. From what I see you are making progress - keep your chin up and keep working. The physical skills are there, just got to work out the kinks and I can see you developing into a powerhouse.🙂
@LookMaa2Hands

Your ball motion is better when you stay behind the ball. You're to on top and or side of the ball. Try moving your pointer finger in closer to your middle finger. It looks like it's spread out to far. This will help you stay under the ball more and get around it better increasing your revs. You can also tuck your pinky to help get around the ball better if you need. TBH I'm pretty confident that you need a better fit on the ball (i.e. pitches/span). Your arm isn't very flexible most likely from lifting. I have the same issue so how the ball sits in your hand is VERY important. If the fit isn't correct for you then the arm and body wont allow you to release it properly, every now and the you will but it will be very inconsistent and as you know consistency is key. Hope this helps.

Changing things can be tough keep working at it. I dont really understand the change though to the no push off. I mean i get what you were thinking in trying it, but you never free up your swing at all in doing this, it keeps you in a tense very controlled position throughout the swing that makes it look like all muscle, which is hard to repeat. It needs to be fluid. I know everyone has an opinion and most of them stink, i just keep seeing you trying this and it just puts you in such a bad position through the swing and you still twist your body at the line. Keep up the work youll get there.

I love watching you bowl man, but you need to stay a bit more positive. The mental game of bowling is just as important, if not more important, than the physical. Also, it would help a lot to post your shots fully. Every time you released you feel off to the right. You should work on posting and staying in your post till the ball makes contact with the pins. This helps to train the muscles to hold the post. It is little tweaks here and there and you will be making those cuts so easy! Keep up the grind!

would shortening the approach help? I’ve only been bowling since February. I find the pocket more often during my one step drills than with my full approach
@cllxc
@cllxc Жыл бұрын
Well that would matter at least but it depends really on the ball motion. I have a 5 step approach but sometimes i shorten my approach if i want to slow down my speed and bring in my speed by moving back. But, the point really of your 1 step drill is to feel the release, and I guess if you want to work on timing, that would be more on to the 3 step drill. If you're just doing the drills, I would probably just focus on getting comfortable on the uncomfortable part of the drill.

Some similarities to Wayne Webb, except WW’s pushaway and follow thru are much more repeatable and accurate, your pushaway directionally is very inconsistent and your hand position changes from shot to shot, causing the ball to hook up earlier or later, depending on what you do. I think in a previous video he showed that the push away was sending his arm high and offline in the back swing. The no push away technique is, I believe, an attempt to keep the backswing muscle memory to keep it low and inside more (could be off on the inside part, but the high backswing went way outside). I don't think it is meant to be a permanent fixture in his game, but a technique to keep the backswing low and then integrate a push away that allows less muscling of the shot...a work in progress

Are you sure it's a good idea to go without a pushaway? This way you're basically forcing yourself to pull the ball up in the backswing. If your swing was free, you'd be roughly around waist high which is unusable for real play. I'd say the pushaway is essential

You sound very negative minded lately but one thing that helped me improve the most were actually the slumps. In this state you actually start thinking really hard about what's wrong and there are two options, you either give up (please don't) or you start working on fixing something and eventually it will start working out again. You're currently in the "everything is wrong phase" but this only means you managed to break away from your muscle memory - good job! But the main point is that I'm afraid you're really harming yourself by not using pushaway. I've suggested this in one of my previous comments on a different video but instead of no pushaway try swinging the ball freely before starting your approach and transition into the approach with the ball swinging (the timing is roughly that you start walking when the ball is behind you and starting to come back forward for 5 step approach).

Please go back and look, and I mean LOOK, at your good shots and you bad shots. Then work on what you did when you threw those good shots. I would recommend getting with a good coach and asking Forrest for some advice. Personally, I think you need to work on getting more “up” on your follow-through and not cutting it off at waist level. This should keep your fingers in the ball longer, al la Kris Prather. One more thing: only bring balls that fit you good. Good luck and keep at it.

Michael your follow-through is so bad. Sometimes you look like your off balance.. just saying. Keep up the great videos.. always watching.

A couple of observations, keep at the one arm swing, looks like it will work real well for you, loosen the arm swing a bit, keep the swing lower and lastly post your shots (that's something I constantly have to remind myself....when I post my shots, the swing, release and follow through are great, when I don't tend to either pull a shot, or the release isn't quite right). Definitely keep at this though, you threw some great shots and the more you work on them the better it will be and you'll start cashing. Your music selection was awesome and am looking forward to seeing your progress. 👍🎳

Your mistake was going to the KZbin comments for advice 😂 ask real people that you know and can actually help you. You're making bowling a 200 game look hard when really it isn't
