Here's how to connect and record with YOUR audio interface on iPad // Lightning & USBC
If you’ve never used an audio interface to record audio into an app like GarageBand or Logic Pro on your iPad, it can be difficult to know where to start.
In this video i’ll show how to connect an audio interface to both Lightning and USB-C iPad models and what you need to do on the software side to get up and running.

Not at the same time, no. You can pass projects back and forth, though you have limited editing options on iPad when doing so.

I have my iPad and Focusright Scarlett 4i4 interface connected with an Apple camera adapter. It cannot provide the 48 V phantom power needed for my condenser microphone. I was wondering if there is a cheap way to fix this problem.

As demoed in the video, adding power to the adapter allows you to use 48v phantom power.

@@TheGaragebandGuide I believe it is the Anker Hub that you are referring. Will my iPad's regular (Big size) charger work with it? It is a 12W adapter.

Hi Patrrrrrrrick🙋‍♀️ Very helpful! Question: I have an iPad Pro 12.9 that has a C Port 👍..and I have that adapter. I wanted to buy an AT 2020 USB mic, but I keep reading that they require "phantom power"; not a plug & use...Is that correct? Or can I use an At2020 or 2020x directly into my connector on my iPad? Sweetwater said their specs say phantom power🤔 & he couldn't tell me about changes? Any info for me about that, would be greatly appreciated...thanks Patrick!🤗

If it’s a USB mic you’ll be able to plug it directly into the USB port on the adapter and it’ll work. Condenser microphones that attach via an XLR connection require an audio interface with 48v phantom power.
