Fun, thanks! Now I wanna go home and hop on my ‘08! I get it out every few months (used to be my daily when new) and it still gives me a big smile every time.

That's actually the ultimate combo for any moped: 2 stroke engine, manual clutch manual shift gearbox. It's about having control of the power and the manual gearbox provides that. Also CVT gearboxes cause there to be losses in wheel horsepower. Then you don't free wheel on the Stella because of the manual shifting gearbox. So you have engine braking which is nice for curves but make sure you tap your rear brake so people behind know your slowing down.

Fun isn't it? I have 2 Vespa P series scooters and a 2009 Stella 2 stroke manual shift. The Stella has over 14K miles on it (I bought it new) and after the first 1K miles or so I could run around town with it without even thinking about coordinating the clutch, shifter, and throttle. It's an absolute blast to ride. That Stella got me interested in vintage Vespas. I'm now looking for a 1960s Vespa. I'm hooked.

I'm almost 63, and the only problem I have with my Stella and vintage Vespas is the rear suspension, or lack thereof. Little bumps really pound my back. Neither my Stella nor Vespas have electric starters. I had to replace the stator on the Stela once, and removed the electric starter at that time. It usually fires right up on the first or second kick. I had a local vintage Vespa shop tune and rejet the carburetor.
