My take on the beautiful standard "Here's that rainy day" by Jimmy Van Heusen. Played on a 2005 Fender Custom Shop 50's Thinline Telecaster.

I randomly stumbled on your video from my frontpage. I just love your phrasing and melodic line usage. Absolutely beautiful, the Telecaster is such a great jazz box too!

Wow! That is really beautiful 🙌 Really like the fluent phrases and the seemless chord-melody arrangement. Great stuff!

It is encouraging to see that not all young people are going around talking to a beat. Some, like this brilliant young fellow, are here to carry the torch forward. Great rendition of an old fave.

Rap is poetry is art, and it’s certainly carrying the torch forward. Some would say even more so than playing ‘All The Things You Are’ at weddings and restaurants. But we’re lucky to have both, and much much more, in these glory days of musical diversity where we have the entire world’s music at our fingertips.

it IS poetry, but it's 7th-grade-dropout poetry. Rap is a sidestep to real work. Going into a studio and recording lame ass 'poetry' to a beat isn't 'carrying the torch forward.' Julian Lage is though. There are some young people out there doing really great things...stink doggy poop ain't one of them. Make door and floor rhyme with whore and you simply wind up with vulgarisms recited to a beat. That's what we're buying...the same society that elected the orange goon.

you should get over your hangup about Rap, you're missing out on a lot of great music

@@p90bridge having your fingertips on the buttons of a sequencer does not constitute musicianship. You're right about the poetry, but it's seventh grade dropout poetry that doesn't inspire me.
