You can have them change that rear Hyundai badge to the Equus badge. And idk why there's so much hate on this car. I think for what you get, that's an amazing bargain. Considering that it offers everything the German equivalents hace , but those features come standard on the Equus. German cars make you buy multiple packages which greatly add thousands of dollars to the price. To get an equivalent of the Equus for a MB or BMW, you'd spend $100k+ and then, for MB at least, you have to purchase a schedules maintenance program for it. Yes it's a Hyundai, but that isn't a bad thing anymore. I guarantee that most people that will comment hating on Hyundai have yet to drive their new cars

I purchased the 2015 Equus and I love this car. I have always been a Lexus man. I looked at the 2015 Lexus LS 460, BMW 750IL and Equus. The Equus won hands down. As she stated in the video people are always asking what is that. You can now replace the Hyundai emblem on the back with the Equus emblem.

I use to work for a Hyundai dealership and countless people traded their Audis , Mercedes Benz , and BMWs for this car . Hyundai builds quality cars now they are doing good

I agree! If some people got beyond their name/brand bias they could see (or at least feel via a test drive) just how how much these cars have to offer. I'd pay $68K for this instead of $100K+ for comparable others because my ego is in check and I have nothing to prove to the masses. I think Hyundai needs to create a separate company that deals with cars like the equus and the genesis because most people have a problem with going to a Hyundai dealership to but a luxury car. They could do really well and also make new models of luxury cars that cater to anyone. Just like what acura is to Honda and what Lexus is to Toyota.

I just purchased an Equus Ultimate last week my wife and I love it. It is not even photo finish compared to the fully loaded Mercedes E class we were driving before for about the same price. I could care less about the badge. I paid for the car and its features not for the $100 piece of metal on the hood and trunk. In fact in a town where you see a Mercedes at every corner an Equus stands out. Two faults: 1) Not sure how you turn on the amazing camera system without going into reverse first 2) The car is missing wireless headsets for the back seat entertainment system I heard you can purchase one. If you know specifically which headset model please post. Oh, finally point: It is a bit painful to purchase this type of car from a junior sales guy, that does not have the experience in dealing with the type of people that can afford these cars. Peace!

Thanks and do appreciate your open-mindedness in all your reviews David. Most car reviews/ers are too damn bias - they all care about badges for status and speed that you can't do every single day on the road. Appreciate Hyundai and the other non-luxury brands that they've step up their game in terms of luxury even though they have a long way to go. And let's be honest, most of us cling to much into Europeans brands especially the German ones. Most people care about status rather than practicality - price, usefulness, safety, gas, maintenance and so on. Thanks to Hyundai and the like for giving us more options - in the luxury department - for more practical prices without compromising too much in comfort and having standard features than most luxury high-end brands with their awful options that should be leisure basic. This is a good buy for a family-oriented person, not a self-centered one.

$70k is a lot of money. But people should consider that this car competes with MB S class, BMW 7 series, and Lexus LS 460. Comparably equipped, Equus is a lot cheaper than those cars. It may not drive as nicely as S class or 7 series, but it has better warranty and reliability.

Competing with the germans is the easy part. Competing with Lexus is another challenge all together. By the time you pay it off the germans will be worth less than 30% of sell price. The Lexus will hold much higher value and still run like new with no major repairs. How this Hyundai will hold it's value and quality remains to be seen because it hasn't been around long enough.

Most people who can afford to purchase a vehicle of this price point already have owned the high-end name plates and do not need to empress anyone. The main concern are good value for the money, comfort and reliability. Most do not care what the valiant thinks of their car or them, nor do they give a hoot what anyone else may thing or feel of the vehicle brand in which they are either driving or riding. The Equus has been ranked the highest in its class for initial quality,that being the first 90 days of ownership. This ranking was done run by J.D. Power & associates. Now that's saying something, that means this vehicle was rated higher by the new car buyer over Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, BMW, Audi, & Cadillac. There are two brands in our garage, Lexus and Hyundai. I am a car guy, live and breathe all of the car magazines and Internet car blogs. I have owned over 25 cars in my life time, mostly high-end American & German luxury car brands. Now we have Japanese and Korean. I would have never thought 15 years ago that I be driving high-end vehicles from these countries. Great review as always, except for the less that professional language from the pretty woman from 'everywoman driver'. She is very good looking but really needs to polish her word usage when on camera, just my opinion. Perhaps my perception of 'professional' is out dated now...I always enjoy watching 'Everyman Driver' please keep the coming !

***** It's nowhere near what, a $150k S class? I'd say it's close, and in some aspects, better, but at less than half the price. It's absolutely better than a fully equipped C class which comes close in price...or than an E class which costs more and has less features and cheaper materials. If you compare it to cars which are priced similarly, its only competition is a k900. Other than that, you're looking at a base model 5 series, E class or A6 which come with nothing and don't even have optional controls for back seats, screens in the back, etc.

I have the 2014 Equus Ultimate and everywhere I go people ask me what it is and how nice it is. People are very impressed with the looks. Badges are a mind set. This car is worth the price. Love it. Only problem I have is a broken rear armrest lid. It's a manufacturer defect in these models.

this car is a good inexpensive alternative to a full size luxury car like a S-Class or A8. a equus just doesn't compare to german luxury sedans. i got to compare one of these cars back to back to a S550 when i was at a dealer auction. the equus is nice for the money but the S550 is still nicer for a luxury car. the 5.0L GDI sounds nice at start up but the mercedes 4.6 twin turbo V8 sounds much more refined. the styling of the equus looks like a blend of bmw, mercedes, lexus, and audi. the only i thing i hate about hyundai/kia are it's fan boys. they always talk shit about lexus, bmw, mercedes, audi, cadillac etc. saying hyundai is better.

Torque number is way too low for a 5000 cc V8, so is the acceleration figure. The should have sold this in North-America also with a V6. Fuel economy is dismal. And if this baby only has a GDI type of fuel injection, I certainly would not want it for all the myriad of problems with that. Better get a car with an advanced dual port and direct-injection technology engine. @t Still as you can get these used in the $15,000 to $22,000 price range (as of December 2020), it may not be a bad deal.
