as far as the TW200. adding Fuel injection, ABS or any other mods to it will require a new EPA import cert. It is only still importable because it is grandfathered under it's original 1987 EPA cert. A 200cc motor that would be importable under current EPA rules would be completely gutless. Yamaha already has a 225 version with a 6 speed but is not importable as a street bike due to current EPA standards.

I have a 90' tw200 here just north of Denver. The only thing I think was missed was that the Kickstart and the disk break features never overlapped in production. By the time the disk break came out, they discontinued the kickstarter. If it had over lapped where both were available for a few years, those would be much more desirable models years. I've been looking though eBay to gather enough parts to convert mines to front disk but those parts are elusive due to the reliability of these bikes. Rant over. Thanks for the vid.

You guys should ride a bike before you slag it - I bought a new Kawasaki ZX14 in 2008, and rode it 10,800 kms, coast to coast and back in Canada in 14 days. I loved that bike, and I could rip off low 10 sec 1/4's at 140 mph all day long. Brakes are fantastic - I had a non-ABS model, and I loved pulling wheelies past cars on the freeway at 100+ MPH. They can still do that you know, as well as blocks long burnouts. A great bike, in the top 3 of the 44 I have owned since 1969. It's still a great bike today.

As to the Honda 650 XR L the key is the dealers in the locality. If a given shop has a XR rider within the shop then there is a reference for customers to become excited. The relative success on the DR 400 has to do with the selling dealership and the supply of both service and parts.

The lower half of the Honda CT series. Enter trail, commuter, trainer or aerobat. The 120-152 models ranging from 65,75,90,100 and 110 -125; always small lightweight underpowered and always slow. There is something appealing about dominating a machine in every way including stripping it down to just wings and reassembling it with just a manual and basic tools. The sky is the limit.

The TW 200 should have it's original stablemate back - I had one back in 1986 - the progenitor of the TW 200 - The Yamaha Big Wheel 350. Yep - a 350 cc powered TW - and it had way too much power for the chassis and suspension. Bottoming out both ends off road was the norm with it, but it was fun, and worked well to teach someone about riding basics.

These picks are showing your short history of motorcycling background. 1. the Kawaski Concourse is a great touring bike and about $10,000 cheaper than comparable touring bikes on the market and it looks great. 2. The Suzuki, as well as other Japanese cruisers are still selling well BECAUSE they are not complicated, they ride nice and handle good and have good reliable power. 3. The Honda 650 Dual Sport is a great bike, a little on the tall side but a great Dual Sport. The reason Honda pushed the advertising the way they did was because until just recently, it was kickstart only. 4. The DRZ as well as the DR650 are great selling bikes because they are so simple. They are reliable and great bikes for the price BECAUSE they haven't been upgraded. Same with the KLR although it's 100 lbs heavier than the DR. As far as ABS braking, I feel as though it's just another system to maintain or break. Learn how to brake correctly and you will never need ABS braking systems. 5. The Yamaha TW is a great bike, holds it's value and sells so good because of the other things mentioned here.....BECAUSE it hasn't changed or been updated. It's a simple bike that checks all the boxes for many people. And finally, the Rukus and other SCOOTERS are ugly as sin transportation that is totally useless once off the college campus. In the same vein, Sport Bikes are dying and losing popularity due to up keep and maintenance, complexity of the various systems, insurance costs and a lack of intelligence and riding expressed by their riders. They are slowly being forced out of the bike market. Obviously you two don't understand the current market for motorcycles and just started listing bikes that YOU don't see a reason for. I can liken you two to the current batch of MX riders who say that the latest, greatest MX bikes with all of the technology and electronics are state of the art when in reality, they are losing more and more MX riders everyday due to cost, maintenance and complication. The sport of motocross is dying because of cost and complexity.
