I just tested this. If you leave it plugged in it’s not going to sleep mode so you can have it as clock. Just get a U-shaped usb cable and some stand.

@@gnurken Only thing I'd worry about is the battery with it being left on charge all the time. Although the battery is easy enough to replace, uses the same one Joy Cons use after all.

​@@nathansstuff1547 I'd presume the system is smart enough to draw directly from the wall power instead of trickling the battery every so often, much like the 3DS. There's the icon whenever it's plugged in, so the system at least knows when it's charging.

A gameboy advance micro dedicated specifically for Pokémon would be kinda cool. The problem would be that they would sell all the versions separately, you’d have to buy an entire GBA every time, scalpers, always scalpers. You’ll find Pokémon Ruby in stores but Sapphire will be sold out everywhere and cost twice as much online. Now imagine doing that for every GBA generation. That is such a Nintendo move. Edit: and they’d cost $49.99 each.

I really believe he's downplaying the screen. It's actually fantastic, bright and colorful. Maybe because I was expecting DS levels of pixelation but I was really impressed with the quality of the screen.

Honestly the device itself on it's own is impressive especially when you consider that they were able to cram a rechargeable battery, a color screen that I believe is an LCD but I can't confirm that, and all that in the small shell of an original game and watch shell

Quite pricey and limited on the games, but I love it. It's so close to the original Game and Watches from the 80's in feel, and brings a lot of nostalgia to me. I wish the clock had an alarm feature though. Sometimes it's nice to have something that only plays a couple of games, rather than something loaded up with every rom under the sun too.

I'm not even really a Nintendo fan, but for some reason I decided to get it, and I'm glad I did! It's just a solid little machine, you can tell as soon as you've got in your hand. I think that you miss the point about the clock -- you're looking at it as like, a feature, but it's really also more of a way of displaying it, just like you could leave the plastic cover on the box or not. I like watching Mario run around just about as much as I like playing it.

We had about 10 of these at the GameStop I work at, and they all sold within a few days. I don’t understand how people could spend $50 on a device that plays 3 games plus a watch. I considered purchasing it at first because I’m a Nintendo fan, but then I realized what a waste of money it truly is. Any modern smart phone with an emulator can do the same thing plus more. I guess this device is only meant for hardcore Nintendo consumers. Pretty cool that Nintendo released this, but in my opinion $50 is too much money for what the device can do. $30 would be more appropriate in my opinion.

Fun fact: The games aren’t actually emulated. It actually saves your progress, letting you access world select by pressing B after you reset, and you can hold A when starting to get infinite lives.

mine came in the plastic like his, but mine showed one of the nice fullscreen Mario pictures when I first turned it on and the clock was at 12 o’clock not 1215 like his.. kinda weird that it’s skipped over the splash screen unless he turned it on secretly like 15 mins before turning it on on camera :o

3ds is super easy to jailbreak and install emulators. I did it in 30 minutes. You just need a computer with a microsd card slot, and patience to follow instructions.

Just because it’s easy to hack other handhelds doesn’t make me want to do it any less on this. Sure I can play any game on a psvita/3ds/whatever else. But then I have to carry one of those around. When I first saw one on shelves, I had no idea what this was, then I searched it up and figured it out. I was gunna pass on this but then I started to think of resale value. So I bought two, one to rock and one to stock. On Reddit, I saw how people were saying they had a hard time finding these, who knows, maybe Nintendo made enough for right now, so if you want one, you can get it. I’m just blown away how much these can go up, maybe in 10 years years, it’ll be worth a little more.

The only thing I'm comfortable with saying about this is that I'm a tiny bit disappointed it doesn't last weeks on a single charge like original game and watch's, I know why this is obviously, it has to have a full colored screen as opposed to an LCD one, however it just does not at all feel like a game and watch without being able to let it sit on your desk for a few days as a clock then picking it up for some quick ball

You'll need special hardware for that, the USB-C port is not connected to the CPU at all, only to the charging circuit. But if you've got a chip flasher lying around it shouldn't be too hard in a few weeks.

Like the credit card styled device, but a console with more titles such as Tetris, smb3 and mega man, or you can choose 3 games from a selection on order, would be my preference. These can be hacked but its not easy for non techies.

I don't think it has a "Famicom" theme, rather it mimicks the look of the old Game & Watch games really closely... actually the "Color Screen" is just the start of a new series... the old series being "Wide Screen", "Double Screen" etc. which the differnt Game & Watch games were labeled back there. So if that's a success, the logical thing to do would be to continue the "Color screen" series by releasing more of these in different colors and with different games on them, just like Sega did with their mini Game Gears, only a bit more playable because the screen is bigger, and the controls are... well... proven to be playable from way back when, they haven't changed that much since the original Game & Watch games. Actually they are what I'd refer to as "rubber keys" as they were also used in some home computers like the ZX Spectrum back then.

You should get a splash screen asking for you to set the time with a really cool wallpaper the first time you turn on your device. Either you cut out where you set the time to 12:15 or someone returned that Game & Watch that you got from BestBuy.

If you leave it plugged in it’s not going to sleep mode so you can have it as clock. Just get a U-shaped usb cable and some stand.

I like it. I bought one at GameStop just to check it out. $50 seems like a lot for 3 games that are not very exclusive at all but it’s neat. I like to play it when I’m idle someplace. Just pause and pick right up where you left off.
