I know! California has the highest taxes, the highest prices on things, and a huge budget surplus, but the state government still refuses to suspend even the gasoline tax, with everyone suffering. Went last Saturday. Far less people than the previous years. Usually go just to check out the free stuff. Parking free at Torrey Pines high school, $17 admission with Von's coupon code, and get a hot dog or sausage for $13 which easily feeds two people. Rides always sucked so why bother.

I know people like this. They always buy each person in their family/group their own portion, no matter what the cost or size, and throw away whatever they can't finish, which is often most of the food! I guess they either feel that's the way things are "supposed" to work and unthinkingly do that, or don't want to look/feel like they're cheaping out on their friends and loved ones. That's so silly and wasteful, though, whatever their reasons might be. Although I don't do these things often, when I do, it's usually with my family of four, and as long as we agree on the food, generally we only buy one (usually large to huge) portion of anything and share it. If we're still hungry, then we buy one portion of something else to try that. It's not that we're poor at all, we're just thrifty and abhor waste.

Parents with their toddlers on rides should not count as a ticket. We spent $40 on rides for our daughter but because the parent has to spend 3-4 tickets also it meant only 4 rides for the little one. All in all it was an expensive day. Probably won't go again.

The fair needs to restructure their photography exhibit, a bunch of 50+ year old white men with minimal credentials or knowledge of the latest photography trends judge on outdated values. They need diversity and younger talent judging these exhibits, it’s disappointing knowing how biased it continues to be.

I guess I'll be the lone voice of dissent here but that's actually affordable as compared to going to Disneyland where $300 is only admission for two people, no food, nothing extra. A family of four for $200-$300? Nah, I can't listen to the complaints. Look around you. Everything went up, groceries, gas, taxes ( not road repairs ) so to entertain a family of 4 for that much? That's reasonable, unless you were expecting 1980 prices and then you're on your own.

What difference does it make? Texas isn't safe from inflation(most parts) with some of the tech industry going there landlords and banks will start charging more for the surge of high income earners. This isn't a CA problem it's a US problem.

Quit supporting these carnie scams. Hell, fair ground amusement ride quality assurance isn't what it needs to be. Many of the workers, from my experience, are usually dosed up with some sort of substance(s). Pay close attention to the pivot/connection junctions on these rides; and you'll see the mass amount of corrosion, dirty grease filled joints, and rusting cotter pins. I don't support these events. If you want price points based on the overall quality and experience, go to an amusement park with valid inspection requirements.
