Just to add to this, I think this was actually a positive change, but not in the way CG intended. I no longer engage in Galactic Challenges, and I ignore the episode rewards because I’m tired of seeing what I’m not getting because I don’t have a premium pass. So thanks to CG’s update, I actually have more free time and they’re slowly weening me off their game. If I was a game designer, I would try to make changes that encouraged engagement and made the game more fun. CG went the other way. That’s their choice, but I now have more money and free time. So that’s a positive.

On the topic of Battle Passes. I have played Runescape 3 for some time and Jagex SUDDENLY announced WE ARE GIVING YOU A BATTLE PASS. Can you imagine the shock and hatred that spilled out at them? It was for a very good reason - Rumescape 3 has a system of 3 daily missions that tive you exp proportionate to yoiur level in a certain skill. You can do them in 20 minutes and then quit for the rest of the day. The BattlePass forced every player -f2p and members to go oit of their regular rouines to grind for the rewards (I have completed the free rewards track personally but it was the WORST 3 MONTHS in my gaming career). Jagex made some balance changes to the BP but also made a poll to see if players liked the system - suprise suprise 87% of the playerbase said NO and forced Jagex to REMOVE THE BP COMPLETELY AFTER 3 MONTHS

What I am seeing happening in my guild now is that people are not able to complete the GC feats enough to advance to level 11 for the first week. Seeing as we have to get that far (at least to make up for the omis we will be losing), then there is a good chance they won't even be able to make it that far. Especially with the next GC being Jawas...so things are not getting better on that front. Reducing the feats from 4 f2p options and reducing it down to 2 f2p options is bad enough. To then make those 2 feats that we have access to require characters like jawas, tuskens and rebel fighters is rather ridiculous and is going to screw some people out of their rewards. Granted, it sounds like they are going to do a make good at some point that might help with this, but that doesn't help them right now when they have to purchase items in the store now. The store requires you to purchase things on a weekly basis and any week that you don't purchase the items you need, you don't have the ability to go back and purchase them later. You're now forced to purchase them every week to keep up. It's just a ridiculously bad update and is very deflating to any enjoyment in the game. GAC fun tanked because they keep screwing with the tiers, Fleet Arena fun tanked because they decided to screw with the fleet meta and make it completely RNG dependent, and now any GC fun that there may have been has been tanked because of this update. Conquest has never really been fun seeing how much of a chore it is. There's hardly any game modes left to enjoy. If they mess with TB & TW, they might drive the final nail into the coffin of SWGOH.

Causal almost 11 mil GP player an guild officer that's played since launch with breaks here and there. Mostly f2p and maybe spent 1k the entire time I've played this. The game has just been progressively more p2w and less fun to play which is making me not even really put any more time in it but I feel bad quitting as I've put so much time, effort, and money into this game. I do think I will be barely playing now besides TW and the occasional GAC which is now not fun due to the crappy matchmaking and continuous kyber squish.

Casual player here. I'm definitely a niche player in the casual pool. I liked the old dailies. I did reg energy 5 hard mode, 1 normal, 3 cantina, 3 mod, etc. Basically the absolute min to do dailies. I do not want to be in a guild, so I made a solo guild. Not a fan of any of the pvp modes. Yes my progress in exceedingly slow. After many years I have 3 characters at relic that are not LSB. Why do I trudge along in this game? Star Wars

As a 4-5 month account this new update really feels like it slowed down my progress just on the dailies rewards alone. The missions for the f2p should be more plug and play instead of having specific comps. If the missions are going to have demands for comps then we need grinding for heroes to be faster so players can keep up with the requirement. And a Qol that would be greatly appreciated would have new tab or location for assault battles instead of sharing the event location. Having another location for assault battles would hasten the f2p grind even if is just one per day. With Galactic Challenge changes i am only able to complete a single feats. I was able to use phoenix, bounty or empire team and complete 2-4 feats and get good amount of rewards. The game ask way to much grind for many sources that as new player feels like catching up feel further than ever before. August update was like wow the grind of 6 months packed ready for new players but now is like they added 3 more years by just diminishing the rewards. Whats next perfect mods called darkspeeds ?

U know Nooch it’s the way CG created the new landscape of GCs & this episode track which is why everyone is serious peed off. With all the paywalls it’s visually & mentally demoralizing. I’m a 10+mil player & this is a disappointment for myself. I won’t be able to do all the feats in GC but overall I still love the game, I have a big enough roster to mitigate all of the new changes. But for the newer players F2Ps it’s a disaster. With that said Have a Happy Thanksgiving to u & your family.

I also think they are changing the way we need to approach the game from a fundamental standpoint, and I don't like when games tell me how I need to play their game. They tried to streamline things so much that they now dictate how I am supposed to play.

Dailies do take longer and are more awkward, 600 energy is a pain as you have to do it over 2-3 sessions if you don’t buy energy and if you do buy energy you need to come back and spend more energy - new player 2-3 months, 85 + bb8 light speed commenting and don’t really want to to spend any more now

It was like that before except only two energy types applied. You also don’t get free energy unless you open the game a few times a day.

It was 6 (iirc) x dark and light nodes, squad, fleet , not 600, 600 was for raid tokens which I did most days and others I only got 400+ . Also my Savage arena tokens farm is now a pain as I’ve lost the 200 arena tokens from the arena daily and only a chance to get 200 from the daily reward box you get at the end

Would you recommend us to follow your 2025 hyperactive farming guide for those of us who want to rush executor. I want to maximize crystals efficiency as quickly as possible. Would you happen to know about how long following your guide would someone get executor? Also, do you have a video about what to spend money on if your going to spend money on the account? I'm not sure how much I want to spend but want to get a good idea of what people recommend spending on if they decide to besides lightspeed of course? Thanks in advance for your thoughtful response!

Haha love getting to hear you respond some more nooch and of course always love to you man as well! I would like to touch on one point you made about engagement, I wouldn't say they said their goal was to reduce engagement but rather they stated they wanted to remove a lot of the kind of "busy work" stuff that noone liked before in order to allow them to focus their engagement on things they enjoyed doing. But I do agree with you at the end of one of the biggest problems is they essentially accomplished the opposite with this update by creating even more stuff people dislike doing that they now have to do, while simultaneously taking away things players used to enjoy doing. And of course this is all before you consider the players who quit, so while I agree they did not necessarily achieve the goals I was mentioning I do feel that it was likely their goal to begin with and just simply failed on its execution. That said I remain hopeful they will continue to improve the experience for the overall player base moving forward and once some of these big kinks are ironed out a bit. Edit: also I would like to touch on my original comment as I have seen others posting similar but imo much harsher worded opinions, and in looking back at my own I realize i too may have been a bit strong in the way I phrased what I say about being disappointed in you, it wasnt so much that I was disappointed in you for being honest about your feeelings/thoughts because you absolutely should be, it was more so just I was disappointed to see that was your feelings on the update and given how you generally handle negative changes in the past I had more so clicked on your video hoping to hear you trying to be the calm among the storm and when you werent it was just disappointing to me to see you too felt the way many have expressed in the community. All that to say you are still and will always be my favorite swgoh cc, and I appreciate all that you do for the game and would never want you to be anything short of your authentic self.

The free extra 100 energy is really sweet but 1.- Its in the store and it takes forever to recognize the fact you logged into the game so womp womp 2.- Would have been better to get 100 free energy on the game no extra steps but no we cant have that nice of a thing for free. Yea some changes were good and such but a lot are just annoying and like make the game more of a chore when it was supposed to be less of a chore

I'll keep saying this every time. If the math says you can get everything over a month, then you are doing the math wrong. It isn't over a month it is over 4 7 day shops. If you are not factoring in the spacing between new currency drops, the rate you can complete challenges, and the days the shops are open then they've already done the math wrong. Flat out it seems built for the average player to miss out, because the pace doesn't match. If you get the pass then there is almost no worries. Everyone I've seen just does the math as if you have till the end of the month to get all rewards, which isn't what happens. If we had a single shop open for a month, then the math would totally work.

If i'm honest, my jimmies remain unrustled that a subdivision of the "Pride and Accomplishment" group did another Capitalism(tm), but the talk around the math checking out reminds me of those physics problems in school: "Assuming air resistance has a value of 0, calculate velocity". Yes, under optimal conditions and efficiency (which by itself is a massive assumption), the system is a net benefit in terms of rewards, but in practice, very few people will be able/willing to achieve those optimal conditions. Dangling a carrot on a stick doesn't work when the price tag on the carrot is clearly visible and highlighted. P.S. I have rarely seen a more bland, and yet somehow convoluted, UI than the reworked rewards tab.

So far the only thing I've been to afford from the new shop are the 3 Omicrons. Nothing else. Doing all of the F2P stuff and my dailies. How is that benefitting my account? I called it in our guild discord that they would really screw the player base making the next couple of GC's about Tuskens and Jawas which not many people have geared up. What a big "F U" from CG to the early to mid-game players. I don't have Dad Bod Boba to cheese it and minimal Tuskens and couldn't get past level 6 of the GC. Oh well. Not even worth trying.

You have less dailys to do, GC is halved basicaly and the weeklys are finished by themselves by just playing the game. The most condescending thing I heard a content creator say as a way of trying to help is that players set aside crystals to get new marquis to 4*. What? I beg your FINEST pardon? Absolutely not. There's no way in hell I'm wasting 3600 crystals, twice a month to keep up with their factory copy paste churn out of units, to throw away on the shard packs. Why would I sink 3600 crystals of investment for a 4* unit that isn't going to do anything meaningful for my roster for months just to get back the rewards I used to get? Those are crystals for jawa daily deals, or double drops, or relic levels that even all my best teams need more of.

The math...? Looks like everyone has been duped by this con. GC max rewards were... FTP + P2P got exactly the same rewards. The new math for GC explained properly: now FTP won't, can't, it's impossible, to get the same rewards as P2P. Little point going on about getting the rewards we used to get, when there's a group that gets extra rewards above what we used to get.

Been quiet and sitting back seeing how this plays out. Not the outrage…just general gameplay. I’ve been playing this game for 8 years now, had 3 different accounts over that time. My most recent account is just under 2 years. Small whale. Nothing crazy. Buying light speeds, conquest passes, crystals, etc. With all that being said. This update is absolute garbage. The hell with the math. It’s not fun playing it. It just don’t feel like the same game. Navigating this game sucks. Keeping track of the rewards sucks. But they got me where they want me. Not going to quit. Invested too much money, time, and effort. Staying until doomsday sadly. It like working at a job that I hate but can’t leave. If this game wasn’t Star Wars related, I’ll be gone in a heartbeat.

You said your job as a content creator is to reflect how the community feels. This is somewhat true but the relationship between community sentiments and content creator sentiments is dialectical. If you created a video explaining how this could be good, without clickbait, and acted a calming mechanism for less informed players - because that is a key issue, informed and enfranchised players are better off now - that would be better for the game and help create calmer sentiments. Instead, you made a week of pitchfork grabbing videos that do nothing but highten the tensions in the community. People are upset, it feels bad, it’s the first release of a new system it will have quirks and misses. I think a reasonable take is, “I like these aspects, dislike these, and don’t know about these because we’re 6 days into a 28 day period” for all we know the quests in the last week give a ton of points and give even more leyway on the pass. I guess in general I’d say, you don’t just reflect community sentiment - you shape it. So consider what that means for you and your tenure as a content creator when you effect has been to negatively stigmatize people towards a game you supposedly love at a moment where calmer heads need to prevail. The average SWGOH gamer, just like the average person in relationship to most things, is less informed than the content creators or experts in the field. It’s your job to educate the masses, not reflect their reactionary sentiments

Speaking as a guild officer, frankly I don't know of any guild that would want a part time player when rewards are directly tied to engagement in the game. From my perspective (as a player who cant max all of these GC's) the people who are grabbing pitch forks and complaining about losing rewards are the ones that frankly never were going to get Red box rewards, or even two omicrons, on GC's like Tuskens, Jawa's, Rebel Fighters, etc. Yet theyre acting like spoiled children over rewards being taken away from them. I get it, the pop ups dont feel good, it doesnt feel good to be gated behind stuff, but frankly, I dont believe any mobile game really cares about its "casual players", the games are made for the daily player. Its as simple as that, hate to break it to the casuals but as much as yall like to complain, you arent losing as much as you think you are, youre just bitching because the game has passed you by and you cant handle it.

I mostly agree. I see players complaining about things that are due to their play frequency. It’s not obvious that they are getting less even being less frequent players. None of them are active enough to bother with the math, tbh, so we will never know for sure. On the other hand, GCs feel more awful, and they picked three nasty ones for F2P because those teams aren’t really worth investment compared to others. Having paywall stuff popped in your face often is also demoralizing. It feels like pressure to spend, not just an option. Some of that will dissipate over time and as players slowly see the rewards trickle in.
