So, if you try to better yourself by maintaining your house, the Town penalizes you by raising your taxes. If you let your house fall apart, you can pay less taxes but your house may become me unlivable. Got it!

What you need to know is, the system is designed to price people out of home ownership. Allow corporations to buy the homes and then make them into rentals. If you on a fixed income your screwed, on a budget your screwed. Don't want to pay more and more every year for the privilege of having the house you own on the piece land it sits on, your screwed.

What about a 10% cap? They seem to appraise the market value 25-30% year over year as the inflated market goes.

Exactly. You may pay off the mortgage and own the home, but you'll NEVER outright own the land it sits on. You'll pay on that FOREVER through property taxes.

@@paxundpeace9970 And if you don't pay the property taxes EVERY year there's a possibility you can lose the home AND the land it's on. At any point it can be taken from you or your future family. There's also eminent domain if the city/state wants your property for a highway or something.

I’m so sorry to interrupt, but that is false information. If you own a home on private property in the state of Florida and that private personal property is in NO WAY ASSOCITATED WITH AN ACT OF COMMERCE or profit producing activity….there is no tax due at all! Your shelter is not taxable. The exemption you are applying for it to separate your homestead from the peroration of your property that is operating in commerce. Start researching! Ask them to show what proof they have that a business is being operating on your property! All 50 states….your home is exempt from taxes!

You are protesting the wrong issue! Don’t protest the amount…protest where the authority comes from. In a brief, taxation of your non commercial property is being misapplied by your county under the color of law. Protesting the amount of the tax in essence is saying you think the tax is ok, just not the amount. Taxes are handled locally, not by the state. Constitutionally speaking, the state has no inherent power to impose taxation on your non commercial property used as shelter. If the state has no power, there is no power that can be passed to your county. This is an extensive research of Federal and State Constitutions, State Statutes, State Administrative Codes, Blacks Law, American Jurisprudence, and case law already decided by competent courts. The research is based on Florida law and your state too will have similar laws being that all states must be in compliance with the law of the land…the united States Constitution.
