Chael rarely tells you straight, you have to interpret. Look at it like this. If Jake Paul is a "sideshow" not a real boxer, than it should be easy money to get in the ring with him and beat him if you are a pro. Easy money, little work. The only reason not to fight him is that you recognize he is legit tough. Extrapolate that to the Nog bros, of the two who is the better one to pick a fight with. The one who would have to cut more weight to come down and fight you, has more wear and tear on his body, and is more a ground guy? Or the one who has less wear and tear, would have to cut less weight to get you, and has confirmed "lethal hands?"

The part that Canelo probably feels would be disrespectful to boxing is that he fought his way up through the ranks to get where he is now, and others within boxing are doing the same, hoping to achieve the same. Every one of Canelo's fights gives an opportunity to his opponent for exposer, financial gain and possibly winning and becoming a champion. For Canelo to fight Jake Paul now, it would take that opportunity away from 1 other person who has most likely also dedicated their life to boxing and has worked their way up the ranks to earn it. When Canelo says that fighting Jake would be disrespectful to boxing, I think he is at least partially thinking of something like this. Giving Jake the opportunity without him having to fight his way up the ranks and earning the right, could devastate the motivation of young boxers by showing money can supersede hard work, so why make the effort if it might not lead to opportunity. I'm not opposed to what Jake is doing, it's just different than traditional boxing and being popular in his promotions doesn't mean he is comparable to the top boxers and worthy of their attention.

I think it’s a fair comparison to say Jake Paul is like the Donald Trump of boxing. And I mean Trump when it comes to politics. Although I do consider that very generous on the part of Jake. Considering how successful Trump has been going up against the very best. I mean the comparison more a sense of how Jake Paul is treated. The so-called pro boxers, and all the insiders and gatekeepers of the sport crap all over him because he’s an outsider. But all of that is done out of fear because they don’t want to get exposed. Nganou exposed Tyson fury and the entire sport of boxing. To a degree Conor McGregor exposed Floyd, Mayweather and the entire sport of boxing. Boxing is a shady crooked dysfunction business that gets by largely on mystique. And boxing wants to protect itself because of that very fact.

Here’s the honest truth. When Jake Paul started boxing, he was a joke. He had a few nobodies (no bodies as in nobodies in boxing) jake fought with and Jake beat them; those were the sideshows. Everyone was saying “If a really tough guy would come in, Jake wouldn’t win. Jake fought a few more times, and upgraded his opponents, still didn’t lose. He then upgraded further, still won. At this point, we realize he’s a real boxer. Maybe not great, but pretty good. Still has the sideshow stigma, but when you look at it, he’s entertaining, he’s pretty good, gets a lot of people hyped to see it (whether to see him win or lose) so he brings the money in… why wouldn’t Canelo fight him?! Doesn’t make sense, unless Canelo is afraid he’d lose. I’d watch that fight (granted, mainly to see how much punishment Canelo can inflict on Jake (I don’t hate Jake though), and also to see how well Jake does.. maybe he can hold his own! Probably not, but who knows. It would be a fun one to see! I don’t get it, at this point, what would be sideshow about it?!

First and foremost, Canelo fights at max. at 175 pounds, while Jake Paul fights at 200 pounds. He is a bully to call a smaller guy out, especially if he thinks he’s good enough to beat him. Besides, he has nothing to lose, as everyone still expects Canelo to win. But there’s always the puncher’s chance, and if he wins, Jake has oh so much to gain. We’d never hear the end of it. So why grant him this chance against a smaller guy? Jake has to climb his way up, nut jump from fighting washed up UFC fighters and UBER drivers straight up to the elite of boxing. To the date, he only had one boxer as opponent, and lost. He needs to fight real boxers in his weight class and if he manages to accumulate some victories, he’ll be getting to the upper echelon at some point. Jake is clearly avoiding the right path in boxing. And this is why he infuriates so many people. So why are you not questioning Jake’s method, uncle Chael? Why is Jake avoiding the right path? Moreover, and to your point, why isn’t he in the Olympics yet? I guess many, me included, just had enough of Jake Paul already.
