When I started working mom gave me the Dart. Old Vietnam era push button drive. I drove that thing 30 miles a day for 11 years. When I got rid of it the tranny was leaking, burning some oil, but had 146 k on the clock. And for the 5 years the odometer did not work. The Mexican teacher that bought it was a college friend....and he put recap tires on it and drove it another three years. He stripped drain plug and I helped him put in this rubber plug. @Andrew_Stoffel Жыл бұрын
@@stacyorth They can run longer. Yours probably needed an engine flush and some AT-205 to help keep the oil in. Maybe a coolant flush too if the reason it died was because of rust in the coolant system jackets. These are easy fixes like oil changes. Just gotta know better next time. This is something that can be done to most cars these days to help them last longer. The engines we have been getting have been getting better, but the reason I believe they are falling apart sooner has something to do in part with the ethanol we have been putting into the gasoline sold at most gas stations across the U.S.

@@JS-hs5sf Mine was good. It was burning oil. But at that age and mileage, that's not surprising. Ac only blew out the defrost and I had a dead window. But never had any major issues with the exception of the radiator fan quiting one time. The thing just kept chugging along untill one day I was driving and it went to shift, but instead of shifting, I lost gear and went into neutral. It only did that once. But it started slipping going in and out of second gear. And kept getting more noticeable. So my step Uncle bought it for like 600$. He just needed a back and forth ride for work. So he didn't mind the issues. Had 245k on it when I sold it. At one point, I was putting 1k+ a month on it lol. So yeah, after seeing all the rep they get, I guess I'm very lucky

Dealer near me is selling a 2001 limited edition PT Cruiser for $3,995 (so about 4k.) It has just under 68k miles on it. Carfax says it's only been serviced once, no damage/or accidents reported. What do you think? Is it a lemon on wheels? 4k seems a high asking price even though the mileage is low. It's all polished and show room shiny like new. Grape colored with silver flames on the sides. Ultra clean interior. But who knows what's really going on inside.

It wasn't my first choice. I had 2007 Mustang for 10 years. It got hit 3 times in the last year. The last time totaled it. One of the hottest buys in the market is bargaining for a 2003-2004 GT model with kick-butt responsive Turbocharger, 5-speed manual or Auto-Stick automatic and ALL the toys. A very kick-butt sleeper of a ride can be purchased for $2-$3k because people like Scotty trash talk them. Bought mine new in 2003, treated the turbocharger & engine to Mobile 1 synthetic oil/filter every 3k-4k miles and have never had drive train trouble at 130k miles/17 years. Top speed governed @ 132 mph & I'm on 1st set of replacement brakes. Planning to drive it another 130k miles and then let the grand kids fight over who inherits it. :) (Be haters if you want, but I'll continue to drive the smart money FUN cars!)

Scotty, I'd like to give an honorable mention of one of the great Mopar cars I've owned. It was a two-door 1979 Dodge Diplomat, Dove (powder gray), gray cloth interior, and a 318 V8 engine. I paid $500.00 for it in 1988 and it needed NOTHING and it had a brand new set of Michelins on it. Guys wife died. I did an oil change and gave the chassis a good visit from the Zirk Gods with a plentiful load of grease. That car ran in the Las Vegas heat for over four years with never getting over the 'C' mark on the temperature gauge. The Airtemp air conditioning was the best I've ever felt from a production car (and I've owned a LOT of Mopars) especially in 115-degree heat sitting at a long stoplight, the engine temp stayed cool and I'd have to drop the fan motor down a notch or two. Older Mopar products have INCREDIBLE A/C with the Airtemp systems. Anyway, I'd like to see you do a video on that little Dodge if you can.

Just junked my 01 pt cruiser with 182000 miles and on its second engine. Literally fell apart in front of my eyes. No ac, overheating head gasket and timing belt went. Bought a 09 Camry
