I can certainly see one of these in the emergency trailor and at each of the eoc's. The assessment role is one that many ARES/RACES/CETT supported teams have when working with Emergency management operations. Would love to see how well that would work and what it would take to make it all play. Thanks for the good summary.

Anybody know how or where we can get a 5 GHz parabolic antennas for the 905?

Lots of inexpensive 5.8 antennas available on ebay plus the excellent Directive Systems dual band 5G and 10G dish.

If you want to operate mainly 144 and 432, the 9700 makes sense. The 905 on 1200 mHz with 10 watts at the antenna is a far better choice. It's the 2.304, 5.760, and 10 gHz capability that makes this radio the most exciting transceiver to come along in my lifetime! And I was licensed in 1955.
