Listened to this video through a calibrated pair of Neumann KH 120ii and a KH 750 DSP subwoofer, guitar sounded like it was in the room with me. Neumann really makes amazing equipment.

My MT48 is on the fedex truck today and being able to use it with an acoustic duo act that I perform with is a big reason I got it vs the Apollo. It's replacing an old first generation scarlett 18i8.

I am doing tests comparing the MT48 vs The Apollo X6 and x4 and I’m torn. It’s more clear but it lacks the heft and “soul” of the Apollo. Converters are different but does it mean it’s better? Seems like at some point, it can be too clear to the point of being sterile and lacking feeling. I do like it though. Still deciding whether I’m gonna keep it or not.

I have a Bose T4S mixer. Does pretty much the same stuff plus a lot more. They also have the T8 which is the 8 channel version. Both are a lot less money than the Neumann

Great question. I've tried both so I do have some thoughts. For me, the MT48 is the winner, I feel the converters are noticeably better and overall diversity of functions is superior. The biggest advantage the Neve has is that it's bus-powered so if you're looking for something you can truly run just off a laptop, it's great. The preamps on each unit are both excellent. It's a matter of test, if you like Neve stuff (keep in mind they aren't 1073s but excellent transparent pres) I tried the Neve first and they were BY FAR the best small footprint interface pres I've heard, that is until the Neumann. So they're both great, just different. I also think the MT48 works a lot better as a front-end controller to run your studio, the Neve is really just kind of a box (albeit a very sturdily built one) For me personally, the MT48 suits my needs better but the Neve is really good in its own right.

I don’t know if it’s the camera or if it’s the actual interface but you I looks laggy. Is there a delay between the jog wheel on the screen? That’s a dealbreaker for me means there’s underpowered CPU.

Maybe the Neumann is a few dB better in some tech specs. But for me latency and driver support / stability and reliability are more important than some more dB in the conversion. The Babyface Pro FS is less than half the Neumann and no one will hear if you recorded or mixed music in a professional way. I have got a Merging Technology Anubis a while ago, yes, it sounds great but the set up was a bit of a pain and the latency and stability is not on par with the Babyface FS. That’s just my experience. So save yourself some money 😉.

I like this interface a lot, but I think the slow delay in screen responsiveness (it’s like 8 frames per second refresh rate) is utterly unacceptable for the $$$.

Too complicated , I only use guitars with 2 knobs , tele, LP junior . In live stage simple rules . Less choices the better

If you do more reviews if you put reverb and effects on your tracks nobody can hear anything becomes a waste of time

Don’t sell everything! Only mic inputs are great, usb cables are bad, mine looses power even by a small touch. when a channel is muted it still goed to the reverb. Routing is limited and outputs not sounding that great they are good but there are better ones in this price range. It is getting hot, booting takes a lot of time. The only reason for buying this if you just love Neumann and need AES67. It is a lot of money for what you get. Also they give a travel back but you can not power it via your laptop because it needs 12volt.

An interface for 2k? Just paying for the brand name? Thats like the Leica lickers in photography 😂 Better get an RME and you‘re good. Or safe some more money and get an Audient or Motu. No one will hear the difference. 😉

I just tried a few interfaces side by side. The preamps on this had more depth and full spectrum of color (as though all the frequencies were more accurately captured) than anything else. It was incredible. For how much Merging actually costs, this gets you in the door
