Dropping $10k into this Hellcat isn’t really that bad cause you could have bought more expensive $40-$50k version and still have the Hemi tick . At least this way you’re getting a rebuilt motor that will last a while. Almost every hellcat you buy is going to be beaten up. People don’t understand that although these are built for racing they even professional drag racing teams have to rebuild their engines from time to time and maintenance on race teams is constant.

That's a good way to frame this, especially on a car that is either going to be a well-kept example with a huge price premium, or abused with issues. Ngl, compared to labor rates on the west coast, $10k for all of that doesn't really sound like a lot (I'm assuming parts are included in that 10k). TRUE STORY: A year or so ago I was driving home from work when the guy in front of me, very gently and very slowly, drove off the right hand side of the road at highway speed and without any brakes drove down into the culvert and then, yes, just like you stated, he "Dukes of Hazzard'ed" it off the edge of someone's driveway and launched his Buick a good 20+ feet into the air before tumbling three or four times, landing on his roof. All because he fell asleep at the wheel. So, yes, people do actually hit driveways edge-on via the ditch. EDIT: Being the first one on the scene, I found him uninjured hanging from his seatbelt. He released it (against my recommendations) and fell head first into all the broken glass. But he was panicking so... He was also too large to fit out the now squished side windows. After confirming he wasn't injured I pulled him out by his feet. He was a BIG boy. He sat against a tree while we waited for 911 to respond. He said he had fallen asleep. I have video of our conversation and the wreckage after the accident.

@lcloutier10003 ай бұрын
The gap is technically public land. Depending on jurisdiction, a corridor of about 1 to 3 feet off the road or sidewalk is part of either the city public right of way, or utility easement, so the municipality can dictate the surface material and prohibit temporary structures if there is another access point to the property. He moved the main entrance of the property, and needed to get approval for the new culvert because they're illegal to build without such permit. Reenforced concrete is actually the 'best' building material you can get, so he surely was easily approved. The problem is that citizens complained about potential road safety issues after it was built. Even if the county had built it themselves (using the owner's money), the owner would still have had to pay to make those changes as long as they were based upon already existing laws. The culvert would've had to be covered in earth on the sides anyway, what they did is forced it (and the drain pipe) to be extended with a lot of earth into some kind of mound. Someone in the area is definitely not happy Hoovie moved in.

Tyler, you have 10+ vehicles that could EASILY go over that step in the driveway. The suburban, the limo van, etc etc. ALL of which need to be driven. Tell your concrete/contractor to get off his ass and get the problem fixed for the driveway NOW! You should not have to traverse the berm in4WD stuff to get in and out of your home because of his horseshit. As for the Hellcat engine, get it built into a stroker. Get a bigger camshaft for it as well. Probably the same cost as a stock cam or barely more. And go ahead and send in the clutch to McLeod. Let themgive it a once over and a cleaning before putting it back in. You will NOT regret it. Those cars are a LOT of fun when they are done right and worth WAY more than a "good" example. Especially with a freshly rebuilt engine that has been rebuilt into a performance powerhouse that could easily surpass 1000 HP.
@jacoby1234ification3 ай бұрын
Yes, please do not put that clutch back in. I think you can get most of your money back because you have a popular KZbin channel and you we are seeing the rebuilding process in place and that makes a lot of people who want to buy hellcat especially from you much more comfortable.

"Bad attention from the county" is a funny way of saying the driveway was not built to code & was deemed a hazard. The justification also makes total sense, though is not something I would have thought of (though I don't work in the construction industry). I wonder if a permit is required for this kind of work and if one was pulled (no idea what the local/state laws for this would be). Fingers crossed everything else Hoovie has done has been done correctly to code with proper permits and this goof didn't just throw up a bunch of red flags for the county to start poking at the rest of his home reno.

Not necessarily. I had a used 2009 Challenger R/T back in 2016 when I was 19 and it ran like a top. No HEMI tick, serviced with Royal Purple synthetic oil changes every 5000 miles and no accidents. When it was in my possession, I took very good care of it despite having the ability to drive it like hell. But I didn't, I knew better than that. It was my daily driver and it was comfortable, sounded good and looked the part. Eventually, it was sold at the dealer that we purchased it from and still lives on to this day by an older couple that drive it from Colorado to Florida and back.

This is a result of two very simple and basic principles: 1. The previous owner beat the living snot out of this motor and probably bounced it off redline many, many times - Wizard may want to check the code history 2. The previous owner did NOT do oil changes in accordance to how hard he drove it. When they recommend you follow the "oil life monitor", that's for driving normal, like a normal person. And even then it's too long. You really should never go more than 5,000 miles on an oil change. This guy needed to change the oil every 3,000 - or maybe at the end of the day sometimes!!!
@bubba990093 ай бұрын
Even then you don't follow the computer since the computer tends to be very liberal with their oil change intervals... it's not in their best interest for the motor to stay intact much past the warranty expiration. Never go more than 5k (with full synthetic) even if the book says 10k. And yea this guy probably needed to go 3k and even then - just too much abuse.

Ouch! Thats gotta sting! Bad lifter ate the cam and now the bearings. Always remember the rule of bearings, if you look at them, they're automatically bad. No matter how well the engine ran prior. So, the lesson here is dont look at the bearings! 😅 I'm going through that on my project car. Pulled the motor apart and looked at the bearings. Now I gotta replace them all.
