This thing looks amazing.I bought the 512 steam deck. I loaded it up with 1000s of roms. I have about a dozen modern games. I added game pass to it. I bought a 100w power bank for it. I thought the steam deck was the best handheld overall. Then came the ROG ally. Better specs than steam deck but worse battery life. But Windows makes some things easier since im used to Windows when it comes to emulation and just in general. The Legion Go seems to have gotten everything right but the major improvements are the screen and battery. If i wasnt so thirsty for a steam deck i would have waited. I still want the legion and I'll probably get one later this year. I'll still keep my steam deck since i spent so much time organizing and setting it up for emulation.

Facts got a gpd win 4 6800u only to find out they released the 7840u model plus the rog ally release but I like the black build of the legion go and the upgrades it do have over rog ally ,steam deck , win 4 so imma get it and won't be hurt knowing new ones coming with better chip but I can always thunderbolt a cpu which you can't on rog ally whom wants you to buy there cpu setup

I just wished was that AMD released better drivers constantly for those APUs like they do for the desktop ryzens, board chipsets and Radeon... Also how much I wish they had like 8GB of much faster GDDR6 for their GPU, then those specs on paper would probably translate to actual massive performance gains on that ~8.6 Tflops GPU compared to the SteamDeck specs. Anyway in design my favourite is probably the OnexPlayer 2 which is also similar to Switch with removable controllers but I'm guessing the price will be just worthless compared to Asus ROG Ally or Lenovo Legion Go 🙁

😆 🤣 same here I'm invested in the steam Deck but I do have a win 4 and I plan on going grab the legion go. Rog ally could have been better etc. Different colors, sd card not in a hot spot etc. Thunderbolt support instead of in house support etc. There's alot I diss like about the rog ally that I'm hoping that legion go will succeed where they failed okay not vrr from what I've heard but the size to screen ratio with bigger battery etc it's a grab for me it ain't a steam deck or win 4

Actually, just imagine I'm playing gta 4 at max settings for around 3 and above hours. Currently playing Yakuza 0 at max as well and been getting 3 and above hours as well. Got too many games to mention that surprisingly the battery life is not that really bad on games especially for the ones released around the ps4 gen and lower. Even some new games got some good battery life as well. Imagine switch games are set lower than a PS3 game but surreal that I can play ps4 gen games with a decent battery life in portable PC with locked 40 fps and higher with good quality graphics. It was worth it for me. Of course if you tone down further you'll get better battery life and with its smaller screen you won't see so much quality drop so it's still good. Coming from psp, switch, ds, 3ds, vita - this is worth it. Games are dirt cheap. You can get triple A games in less than $4. You don't even need to wait for old games ported on the switch, you can just play it straight with better performance and graphic details on handheld PCs.

it wont be able to hit 144fps at 1600p in any game even on low lol. its the same specs as the ally with more resolution. no vvr is a killer for me. i love my ally. but the one place you can take advantage of that screen is by streaming games from your pc to the device. i stream games from my gaming pc to my all and max them out/ super sample the res and it looks amazing with that much pixle density

Cant believe people are hyped for this marketing BS. First of all that 1600p tablet leftover screen is unfit for gaming and Z1 extreme. Z1 extreme sweetspot rendertarget for triple A games is 600-720p. And that look very good on 7inch FHD screen. But it look bad on 8.8inch 1600p screen. Intergeter scaling doesnt change any of this. 800p scaled to 1600p doesnt make it look like 1600p. It looks like native 800p then. Intergeter scaling only make pixels into 2x2 blocks, it doesnt increase resolution. Same method why 1080p movie look good on 4k tv, instead of being blurry and streched out. But its still 1080p And no VRR when handheld need it the most. It leave with 2 bad options. Either allow guarenteed screen tearing or loose a ton of fps and get huge input lag with vsync. So witch one you choose? I tested rog ally with vrr disabled 120hz and its horrible. Major screen tearing and stuttering frames.

you should reconsider the 900-1000€ when seeing the pricetag of notebooks haveing that cpu, considering that it is one of the fastest out there right now..... i know i know, when you give it 90+watts.... which is near to unfeasible in a handheld.... still best cpu out there for laptop/mobile even beating the m2 in a lot of tasks.... so for me i consider this as my main mobile win machine for the next 5+years, then the price seems very reasonable....

Starfield is fucked. You need high end PC to run it just ok. I think You can play it even on steam deck but with everything low and fsr 2.0 on performance. So basically awful experience and still it will have drops below 20fps

So if i understand correctly if you don't play native resolution you get black bars? That could be a make or break for me. On a screen this size 1080p is the absolute max i would run a demanding game. Running it native would not only cut performance significantly but also dramatically reduced the batterlife.

I don't really get the obsession for super high resolution for small screens. Just eats battery faster and requires more resources. But anyways, this device is really exciting, I'm happy to see more and more handheld devices on the market. As with the rog ally, the only thing I'm really curious to see is how support (and long term support) will be. Steam is stellar on that and that's the very reason I'll probably stick to my SD for a while.

No the maximum a screen for s tiny handheld should be 1080p, and have s option for 800p or 720p. No reason to use 1440p on a handheld cause you won’t notice any difference, and it eats away at battery and performance. Not to mention more heat will be produced.

yeah but you need a SoC or CPU/GPU combo that will push that screen and the Z1 Extreme can't push AAA games at high framerates. Great vidoe and production but it isn't going to push any of these games to meet that screen refresh rate and the battery isn't going to work unplugged with performiance. You'll need to plug in. These are mini gaming pcs. I think people need to have the right perspective when it comes to portables.

First of all the GPD win max 2 offers a 7840u as well as dual nvme ssd slots. You can easily put 10tb of nvme storage in it. The 6800u win max 2 has both micro and full size ex xard slots. But the gpd 7840u on the win kax 2 win4 and win max mini have all been out before the legion go was even announced and offer upto 64gigs of LPDDR5 7500. If you cant get that right then i couldnt care less about what else you have to say. Also the lrgion is 699 for the 512 and 749 for the 1TB. Get your facts correct!

Its not for me. Super happy with my steam deck and rog ally but I think its a badass device and im sure whoever gets this will be happy too. Ive had a two lenovo gaming laptops that held up very well over the years and while there were some bad design choices such as the hinge, I had very little complaints of the device themselves so I think in terms of hardware lenovo isnt too bad of a competitor to enter the handheld market. The key here for the race is software support. Im a bit upset with how asus treated the ally with its sd card situation but overalll I still use the device daily and trade off with my wife when she uses the steam deck and wants to swap.

lol I've owned a Lenovo laptop before and it was trash. Audio was horrible, battery life was horrible. I highly doubt they're a "better brand". It's the same Ryzen perfomance you're getting on a rog ally. I wouldn't call that "better". But hey, go ahead and believe everything from a single preview when it's not even out yet for public. All these companies are rushing these gaming handhelds for a quick cash grab. It's a trend at this point. We don't even know how good the battery life is on this. Every other handheld has had bugs and issues from launch. Don't fall for everything because they make everything sound too good to be true. Remember when so many people preordered the rog ally? Those same people are the ones returning it because they weren't prepared for the issues they encountered. Stop falling for marketing and wait at least a few weeks after it's out to seek REAL reviews of it.

There are 3 reasons not to get the legion go 1 you can easily see finger prints unlike the rog ally 2 the controllers and usb c port get super hot fast 3 the fans inside the legion go is more noticeable sound wise then the rog ally and the one x players on the other hand it is one of the most powerful gaming handheld windows pcs on the market and with being able to chamge the resolution all the way down to 800p in some games it helps the battery life by leaps and bounds plus being able to change your vram up from 2 to 8 also helps games and muti task things much more smoothly so is the legion go worth it in my opinion yes even though there are some down sides its still the number one if not number 2 price to performance windows gaming handheld on the market

That thing can have what it wanna have. But it'll never have a PC gaming god like Gabe Newell who created steam OS that works amazing on the steam deck. The only reason why I'm not gonna buy it is because it's Lenovo. Their devices are pretty problematic. My ROG phone triggers one day stopped working. My co-worker's ROG phone had motherboard issues and died on him. My regular smartphone from lenovo as well suddenly shutting down, screen issues, charging issues even tho I'm not overcharging it. Sister's legion got some battery issues and some random things. Etc etc etc. So yep, I'm just concerned about the quality. It really does look cool but I got some trust issues with Lenovo. I really want to see this thing succeed tho.

The LEGION GO is abeast of its own. Not even a SteamDeck 2 will beat the features in this thing. A new CPU will most likely be the same and there is no way Steam will have an integrated Mouse or Glasses or detachable controllers. Not even a Screen to match this thing. This thing is probably more future proof than any handheld ever release.
