Blake forgot half of his triggers when he attacked, as he had two sets of four tap downs for a total of eight. Using those to tap down mana sources would have likely closed out the game that round.

Blake should have tapped 8 non lands permanents when he attacked with the Sarkha, Soul Aflme (that was a copy of) and the Ojoutai, Soul of Winter. ;)

​@@EricHughes124Incorrect. Ben responded "before you go to combat" I.E., in response to attempting to change phases. When that happens, after the stack is cleared, you return to the phase you were in prior to attempting to leave, thus he was back in the main phase.

Blake went to combat step, he can't cast that creature spell (scale lord) until 2nd main

Ben made a play as Blake attempted to leave main phase 1. Once the stack resolves, Blake regains priority and the game state goes back to main phase 1. So yes, he could. If Ben acted at beginning of combat, Blake would not have been able to cast it.
