I blew up my ultrex gear reduction box.....needless to say the part was back ordered and need a certified shop to replace.... pulled the trigger on a ghost and wishing I would have done it last year!!! The ghost is a beast and blows the ultrex out of the water. Make the switch!

The pros are constantly getting there trolling motors worked on, that’s why there’s a service team that runs with the circuit, AND almost all of them run with a backup motor in their trucks so I definitely think that’s a solid decision to get a backup motor, the ultrex is an awesome motor.

If you can get a used fortrex trolling motor they'll fit in the ultrex bracket, they designed it that way for tournament anglers who were on the road and happened to have trolling motor issues...... you can't put an ultrex in a fortrex bracket though.

Ultrex’s are loud, even when working well. I like the fact that they react quickly to your commands, but they need to go brushless

The Saltwater versions of Minn Kota Trolling motors blow out the motherboards constantly... Best thing you can have is an active warranty on them. I've probably had 4 to 5 motherboards go out in the past 4-5 years and a bracket and steering issue also... Break Out Another Thousand BOAT.

My Ulterra has been nothing but issues. I’ve owned it for two years and probably only have about 5 hours in it. I kept my old trolling motor but unfortunately ABM told me they wouldn’t fix my ulterra if it isn’t on my boat.

It’s an electrical motor; they will have issues at one point or another. I’ve researched the Lowrance Ghost and Garmin Force and compared them to the Ultrex. I’ve heard of issues of all three brands, some person will have a bad experience and thrashes that brand. You purchase what YOU like and what you have confidence in; if it’s Ultrex, then that’s what you like and its YOUR Money... I’m personally moving out of the Minnkota. Oh, a Foretrex is freaking reliable....

I’ve had an ultrex 36v 112lb since 2017. Just blew yet ANOTHER vacation not to mention tournament issues in the past. The service centers are really a joke in my area. I’m out of warranty for yet the same problem AGAIN. I’m done with Minn Kota. For 3k I need more. I’ve had 400 dollar trollers that are actually still going and one small one is 36 years old. Once I get this thing fixed I’m selling it and choosing another brand. Awesome motor but o need it to work at least most of the time and mine doesn’t

Justin, lately I've been experiencing a problems with my Ultrex 112. Sometimes (not always) after I lock my position in the lake, my Ultrex aborts the spot lock by itself. It does the multiple beeps sound and the lock goes off without me touching anything. Do you know of that problem and its cause? Thank you for your videos. They are great!

I would start by verifying that there is nothing obstructing the pedal or impeding movement. If the pedal senses any resistance, it will disengage spot lock.

I absolutely hate my Ultrex, worst trolling motor I've ever owned. Steering is slow and has a serious delay in response when using the remote, and it's completely gutless. With a 20 mph tail wind it will barely push my 20 foot aluminum Mod V over 1 mph. My 12 volt 55 LB Powerdrive felt like it had way more power, and pushed a heavier boat much faster with no tail wind. JUNK.
