Love your work boys. Agree that the social media consequences sadly have too much of an impact on the real entertainment of motorsport. I'd love to get on board with you one day and have a yarn about Speedway and NDRC Drag racing, American dirt track racing and so much more. Great work on EP1. Keep on doing what you're doing. Passion should always be the basis.

G’day Legends, great job. I used to love watching v8 superstars as a kid. Getting to see drivers as humans that love their trade but also love having a laugh is so important! Would you guys consider getting a fan or two on to get their views? There’s plenty of passion people out there with good ideas and love for racing. I agree with @scottpye, more race weekends on a f1 sprint style format. That would be amazing. I also agree with bring back some classic tracks, maybe bring back the Canberra street circuit!

Awesome show guys. This is the content the fans have been calling for, the type that creates connection without fear of backlash. It's great to hear perspectives from those deeply involved in the sport. Coming from a headline-focused industry myself, watching what you say is crucial; people rarely read beyond the headlines. I've always wanted to start a fans' podcast and felt the hosts of supercars broadcasts should be fans first. The sport shouldn't own the broadcast, allowing pundits to ask the questions the sports own paid hosts might deliberately overlook. Looking forward to seeing where the show goes and eagerly anticipating the journey ahead.

Hi guys, I really enjoyed your podcast. It is always good to hear the view of the drivers as the narrative is usually driven by journalists which can be very subjective as they are not always in the know and can be very speculative. It would be awesome to hear the perspective of engineers as well.

Gents, great podcast - need at least 16 rounds per season with several rounds included in an "ENDURO CUP" so something for the Co-Drivers to achieve a great season : The season could look something like this.. SMP at Night FEB, AGP MARCH, NZ Double Header APR (inc JR Cup), Tas / WA MAY, Darwin Triple Crown JUNE, Townsville/QR JULY, Winton + Bend AUG, Phillip Is + Sandown 500 (Enduro) SEPT, Bathurst + Gold Coast (Enduro) OCT, ADL500 (Enduro) NOV.... So Enduro Cup is a four round cup. Tassie is in decent weather, rounds every month with the Teams under a little pressure with some extended away rounds.

Great to hear it from your guy's perspective. Any chance of the Sidecasts being uploaded here for those of us in the Northern hemisphere to catch up with at a more reasonable hour? Do you think making the Gold Coast an enduro again or adding another enduro event would be beneficial? Do you think it would be possible to do 2 NZ rounds 2 or 3 weeks apart or is it logistically impossible with teams being on the road & needing a base of operations between rounds? I've no idea what tracks are in NZ besides Taupō & Pukekohe but could it be possible to do Taupō & then perhaps a circuit on the South island? Is 3 weeks a more reasonable gap between rounds? They could either fit in a couple more rounds that way or have a 5 or 6 week break in June/July to give staff a chance to have some spend a couple of weekends with their families & do any typical scheduled mid-season maintenance or general housekeeping. I'd like to think most fans wouldn't be as bothered by a 6 weeks off once a year if we're seeing a couple of races a month. Over here the BTCC does 10 rounds/30 races in 5 and a half months. I know the distances you have to travel are far greater than in the UK but with some sensible planning they must be able to fit a few more rounds into a 9 month season or condense the season a bit so the gap between races is a bit more reasonable without being too strenuous on teams. Sorry for the essay waffling a load of what is likely daft sounding bullshit, it's not often you get a chance to hear it from an honest perspective on the other side of the fence. Definitely think this idea of open, honest discourse with fans is great as long as the usual suspects don't come along & ruin it for everyone. I'd also be interested to hear the things you pitched to Supercars to improve the series. Looking forward to episode 2!
@apexhuntersunited7 ай бұрын
Heya! Yep looking at how we can condense the side cast into its own episodes to upload on here. Yes you could have 1 weekend off for sure. Somewhere for all teams to prep the cars in between events and leave them securely while crews then fly home. They then return just before the event starts. In the past team Penske stayed in Melbourne between events and prepped the cars out of their factory. Highland’s is on the South Island and would make for a great event.

Great first ep. Two things that I feel the category need apart from more races. 1) get the full series back on free to air TV and 2) never let a Supercars race go time certain. Let them race the full length

If he's up for it, I think Jack Smith would be a great guest. The poor bloke was often vilified by fans for doing what in reality was a bang-up job, even if he ultimately didn't win titles at the pinnacle of the sport (how many do?) - armchair racers cannot turn up and compete the way they think they could from the couch. There's never an avenue for guys regularly in the bottom 50% to talk about their experiences or struggles or the Why's behind some of the results, and broadcast rarely covers narratives of someone's recurring bad days down the field. Scotty's insights in this ep into T8 making all his other teams look a bit Super2 when it comes to prep is a rare point often overlooked. Now that he's out of the sport full-time, it would be interesting to see Jack's personality on show and humanise him a bit; hear what went right and wrong, where some of the results went begging, and what he makes of the fanbase misunderstanding all of these factors. If Jack's washed his hands of it all and not interested, this same format could be applied to a heap of guys up and down the grid, past and present. There are so many untold stories in the sport as to the Why's of performance that the results sheet can't tell (team resource limitations, pre-event mechanic finger trouble, chassis issues undiscovered for way too long, poor test day planning, setup philosophies persisted with for longer than they should have, etc) that in the absence of explanation and insight lead the fans to decide "Oh, Driver X is pretty sh*t", when in reality anyone on the grid is still one of the top 50 drivers in the country capable of doing the job and would run circles around any punter all day long.

Great work fellas! This is what we need as fans to be able to voice our opinions and start the process of positive change. Why can’t there be a double header in Tassie aswell? 2 in nz, 2 in wa and 2 in tas, there is 3 extra races we need! 2 day events need to be the standard for the short weekends, practise sat morn, qual satdy arvo then into a sprint race Sunday morn warm up and then into a feature race that finishes around 3 pm allowing enough time for people to leave the track, aswell as have a proper after race show that isn’t rushed and get pure interviews with drivers, and people in the team that aren’t an engineer. Nascar are one of the best at it with doing interviews with people in the crew and it’s an un tapped resource right now

On the round part, more rounds would be great. the use of the tracks mentioned like qr and Winton just seems like it needs to happen The cost of Kayo for me although I pay it is pretty frustrating being that I have zero interest in football and the like paying 35 a month for one race weekend is really starting to feel like a massive ripoff for me. 3 or 4 extra rounds would be a great start to feel like the value is there.

Great episode guys. I want the sport to be better as well. I love supercars and always have. Nrl and Afl look after their heritage better. I don't understand why supercars are selling the gen 3 prototypes right now. Nrl and Afl have headquarters that fans can visit with all these things preserved and on display. Supercars should have a headquarters with a museum filled with championship winning cars, prototypes, race suits, helmets. preserve the past and honour it. Supercars should be doing everything it can to buy former cars when they come up for sale such as the Ambrose and Ingall cars that were recently restored and sold. The racing museum at Bathurst is great but supercars should be doing it themselves for the fans and for the sport. Another issue is watching past races. right now there is no legal way to watch the sandown 2015 race. how is it that something modern that was filmed in HD just isn't available to watch anymore? Supercars needs to focus on the fans. A round a month is embarrassing for Australia's top tier motorsport.

Would love to see Todd Hazelwood, Garth Tander, and James Courtney on the pod. I think that they would have some interesting things to say. Then of course you've got Russell Ingall, who doesn't mind saying whatever he wants. I wonder if Marcos Ambrose might be interested? He's doing interesting stuff these days and would have some good perspective. Oh and at some stage in maybe 5-10 episodes time we could do Q&As from the fans.

Good pod. The MS commentary thing amazes me it's clear the opinion is he past the used by date not bad just a bit stale. I also think a reason for that is he retired a while ago so fans know him more as a commentator then a driver. The age driver thing for me I will never get I am a avid Brighty supporter whilst maybe he went on to long he was winning races and getting podiums at BJR consistency wasn't there but the team was never at that level.
