I remember my Dad singing this song on the way to my organ lessons in the late 1950's from Woodbridge, Va. to Fairfax, Va.

Oh this is the 25th anniversary of the Albert E. Brumley Gospel Sing. It was on a set of like 5 videos. I think it's called I'll Fly Away Productions. YOu can find it online.

Wonderful! Say, I'm new to The Stamps, but I know J.D. Sumner, of course, and Ed Hill. But which ones are Steve Warren and Ed Enoch?

This was Steve in his “tenor prime”. He wasn’t a natural tenor; but no one at the time would’ve believed he wasn’t. At that time, there wasn’t a better tenor in the business.

Jerry Butler That was all part of the schtick. It was a great bit. The funniest bit was when JD would whack Ed on the back of the head. That would always get a good laugh.

@@aronwarren8884 and obviously they all knew that JD wasn’t tryna be mean or appear mean, just tryna be funny lol

@@BecauseHeLives39 No, he certainly wasn’t trying to be mean. My dad, Steve Warren, told me one time that those slaps to the back of the head actually hurt a little bit. He took a slap one night and it surprised him that it actually hurt a little bit. I happened to be at this show that night. If you watch the beginning of the set when the stools suddenly appeared on the stage, I was the one sliding them onstage to my dad. I stayed on the left side wing of the stage for the entire set. Those were good times!

@@aronwarren8884 oh wow dude! Your dad is Steve warren!? Wow!!!! Dang I wish I was alive when they were performing bc I love this group! And obviously JD didn’t mean to hurt your dad at all, at least I hope not😂 Dang man! As I said before, I wish I was alive when they were performing. I’ve heard that JD shook the walls when he did those 56’ endings, was that true? He’s like my fav bass singer but my fav living one is Tim Riley and Gene McDonald
